The Tantalus allusion is my personal favorite part of this-- like a tortured, hungry soul is to food and water, so is this decrepit, power hungry pervert to nubile young flesh. But alas, at the very moment he reaches to touch, she disappears. Just a moment ago, she was as real as you or I. But when desire takes hold, "looking" ceases to suffice, and the young hologram, accordingly, ceases to be "real" in any relevant sense.
Hmm. Probably no need to wax poetic over a joke about Joe Biden (alleged rapist! You guys remember that shit?). Still, I think there's a greek-myth-esque quality to the mystifying effect that anime girls can have on our society. You remember the penguin that fell in love with that anime girl standee? How about the whole Vtuber phenomenon, or even NEET culture more broadly? The world is utterly enraptured by these simulacrums of female beauty-- simultaneously lesser and greater than the real thing. The movie "Her" is baby shit-- this is the real wild stuff. It's a topic I'd like to explore more in a future comic, or short story-- maybe in a similar way to how "Guide to Fashion" was an exploration of the captivating power of art and design-- or maybe in a more analytical format, like the personal comic I recently made about making meaningful art. It's crazy, man! Truth is stranger than fiction.
Biden strikes me as the kind of guy who likes Root Beer. So old school-- but also too "classic car", too "Americana" to be drinking some real old-timey shit like Sasparilla. He seems like a greaser at heart, the kind of guy who thought taking your honey-pie out to the malt shop was mandatory, and consent was optional.
