Sebring 12 Hours 1971 - Chevron B16 #16

For Legion's Chevron B16 FVC.

The Ring Free Oil Racing Team gets featured quite often on my Patreon, as they were a prominent racing team often found in major sports car and endurance races. Mostly known for their all-female driver lineups which was unusual at the time (and sadly, still is) in racing.

In 1970 they got their hands on one of 23 Chevron B16's, which they raced in east coast endurance races during both seasons. Adorned with pinstripes and peace related decals, this i...

Le Mans 1969 - Porsche 910 #60

For the WSC60s Porsche 910.

Very little photographic evidence exists of this one, despite it certainly running at the 1969 edition of the Le Mans 24 hours. Yet, much success was not on the table for Robert Buchet this time.

The 910 barely lasted 4 laps until sump damage resulted in a DNF, as illustrated by Jean de Mortemart in the only photo I found of the car. This one is for the completionists, or those who want to play pretend and crash themselves out after 4 laps at Le Grand C...

Sebring 12 Hours 1966 - Ferrari Dino 206S #46

For the WSC60's Ferrari Dino 206S.

You might think to yourself, wait, don't I already have this livery? As you press the download button, you realize that the winglets are gone! That's right, as the car debuted without the winglets, I've updated the livery with an ext_config to remove them. This caused problems with the shading of the winglets and bolts persisting, so I redid the livery's base to remove those. I've also cleaned up the alignment of decals on some areas.

The Dino'...

Motor Show 200 Brands Hatch 1968 - Lotus Cortina MK2 #22

For the ATCC Ford Cortina Lotus MK2.

As the car is originally a street car, a tonne of parts have been removed from the model ingame via an ext_config. Hopefully it works well!

Driven in the Motor Show 200 race at Brands Hatch by Frans Lubin, who bought this MK2 Cortina from Alan Mann. He was one of a few privateers to run the MK2, a car that failed to match the same legendary reputation of its predecessor. Lubin finished 17th overall.

Pukehoke Grand Prix 1969 - McLaren M4A #14

For Legion's McLaren M4A, available on his blog.

Very few M4A's were built, with one of them first going racing with Graeme Lawrence in 1967. After the team that owned the car, Chequered Flag Racing collapsed, Graeme took the McLaren with him to down under and raced it for a while in national events.

I can't find much else about the car, as the only photo of it racing in period is described with either being from 1968 or 1969. In any case, the livery looks good.

Bridgehampton Trans-Am 1970 - Volvo 122 S #98

For the ATCC Volvo 122 S mod.

The bulletproof (somewhat) Volvo 122 S was a surprisingly popular choice in the SCCA and Trans-Am series throughout the mid 60s into the mid 70's, with several even taking part in endurance racing.

This is one such example, owned by George W. Sanderson and raced by Ron Polimeni in the 1970 Trans-Am U2L class with several top 10 finishes.

A message to NPanic

Hello everyone,

Today marks the day NPanic starts his university life up in Austria, and marks the end of the beginning for our very, very productive partnership with the WSC crew.

In just over 10 months, he churned out car after car for us, each with more and more advanced and more modular parts (even though this occasionally also gave us giant headaches), cars that will remain a staple for historic sim racing for possibly decades. Each release celebrated, each new project a joy...

Sebring 12 Hours 1966 - Yenko Stinger #37

For Stereo's Yenko Stinger.

Few cars have suffered a worse undeserved reputation than the Chevrolet Corvair. Despite the rear engine layout being supported by a thorough suspension setup, the car was slammed for being dangerous and having a tendency to roll over. Claims that went unsupported, spread all over the car media world at the time.

Don Yenko knew this wasn't the case however, and proceeded to tune and prepare Corvairs for racing. What came out was the Yenko Stinger, a ver...

For BrianB's Alfa Romeo TZ.

Silvio Moser was one of the many rich Swiss racing drivers active in racing even after the Swiss formally banned motor racing after the big crash at Le Mans in 1955. He became one of the earliest privateers to race the new Tubolare Zagato, Alfa Romeo TZ in competition. Taking ownership of chassis 750010 early on in 1964.

While Autodelta was already putting together their own "works" racing team at this time, duties for acting as a pseudo-works team went...

Schenk, being a local, was allowed to race in the Nassau Trophy, a race only for locals.

National Sports Car Race Zolder 1966 - Ford GT40 #101

For the WSC60s Ford GT40 Mk1.

GT40 P/1041 started out its life as a special order on behalf of Jean Blaton, better known as "Jean Beurlys". Jean was among the older racing drivers still racing at top level in international sports and touring car racing, being born in 1927. He raced primarily for Ferrari since the late 50's, mostly for the Belgian semi works team Ecurie Francorchamps. He finished 3rd overall in the 1962 Le Mans 24 and 2nd the year after, winning their class. Racing toget...

Nürburgring 500km 1969 - Chevron GT #55

For the WSC60's Chevron GT.

Andrew Mylius ran a lot of Chevrons in the late 60's, adorned in stylish liveries via his graphic design company. So technically we're related. Right?

Mylius later built several bespoke sports cars under the Gropa name, which had some minor successes in national events. All of them were essentially built upon Chevron chassis'.

Mylius finished 9th in S2.0 at the 500km race. I originally started on this livery in January, the night before I went to ...

Sebring 4 Hours 1966 - Alfa Romeo GTA #36

For the Kunos Alfa GTA. Old livery from a few years back with a good story.

Sebring's 1966 support race, the 4 Hour sedan race, became known as the first Trans-Am race ever held. Ironically, the event wasn't won by the big Mustang's and Cuda's, instead Jochen Rindt showing utter dominance in a Autodelta works prepared GTA - one that was rolled in practice by a mechanic nonetheless!

So, the 1.6L GTA won against 4.0+L V8's, showing that there IS a replacement for displacement.

Bahamas Speed Week 1963 - Ferrari 250 GTO #23

For the Kunos 250 GTO, also compatible with the GTC60's GTO.

Few cars have the same legendary reputation as the 250 GTO does. Chassis 3387GT started its life under Luigi Chinetti in 1962, painted metallic blue with a beautiful draping white pattern on the nose (yes, it's on my list!). The car only ran 2 races, major ones, in this paint scheme before being changed to the classical Ferrari red, with white and blue stripes, likely to refer to the American racing colours of white and blue. ...

For the Kunos 250 GTO.

Not many GTO's made it as far as 1966's WSC season, as the car already turned 4 years old in a series where innovations came by faster than you can say it.

GTO #3223GT started out its racing career in silver/white colours for the Scuderia Bear team in 1962, upon its debut at the Bridgehampton 400km race, where it finished 3rd overall. Not long after the car won its class at the Bahamas Speed Week. 1963 was a less successful season as the car briefly changed...

Another B16, as this car is lovely to paint. This yellow one stands out quite a lot on the colourful 1971 BOAC 1000 grid, and was unique in it being a very late FVA spec B16. Most, if not all B16's ran the very effective FVC engine by then.

He seemed to have started racing in the late 60s with Alfas, before going big with the European Sportscar series in 1970 in this 910.
