A short little something based on a brainstorming prompt I posted to twitter a few days ago-- people really liked this idea, so I decided to go with it.
The actual quote is originally about journalism, by some dude named Finley Peter Dunn, so the entire premise of the joke is based on me completely misremembering it, lol. Still, I think the general idea it's based on is one that a lot of people would agree with, re: "punching up vs punching down", that sort of thing. When placed against something that is unambiguously funny, but utterly devoid of moral meaning, the whole idea looks pretty goofy. The little punchline in the second panel sealed the deal for me-- still, is it funnier to just have the first panel alone? I think it's really funny, but this might be one of those times I just don't know what the reaction will be.
I probably would have fleshed this out more if the quote was, like,-- an actual quote. Still, I will always jump at the chance to reference "Dancing Dude Knocks Himself Out". Longer comics coming very soon, I promise!
