I’m assuming this is the same Countess from the other vampire storylines. I like to think that the jealous Pet is the same girl the listener plays in The New Plaything. Anyway, I just love how the Countess’s European accent comes through when she gets emotional. That was such a beautiful touch and it legitimately hit me. Just amazing, as always. Writing and voice-work.

So, Patreon deleted my comment again. Goddammit. I might not have much to add after Boggle's monumental post but I have to say something about this audio. I absolutely loved it. I'm a huge fan of everything vampire related, but this still managed to fell somewhat fresh. Sofi, you're such a good writer. You should really be more confident in your abilities. The "vampire is afraid to lose their humanity" trope is obviously not new, but the way it was done here is amazing. It felt like it was on a much bigger scale than what you usually see. The way you described the vampire mistress gradually losing her memory of her earlier life, much like a human might was so powerful and intense. It's fascinating that she can't even tell how old she is exactly, centuries or millenia. Love this! This vulnerability that you gave her is quite unusual for a character like this and it makes her so interesting. As well as her relationship to her servant and the way she treats her new doll. Boggle already went into so much detail here that I'll just leave it at that. 😂 What I noticed though is her beautiful language. The way she voiced her affection for the doll was soo good. Such a wonderfully old fashioned, poetic manner of speaking that really made her longing palpable. It reminded of classics like Carmilla. And the way DA voiced all of that was simply amazing. The switching between her conflicting emotions was so good and then when the accent came out. Damn! I also really appreciated the change in tone with the bit of comedy at the end. I'm constantly in conflict when it comes to this character. On the one hand, I feel for her because she is helpless to her connection to her mistress. On the other hand, the way she treats the new doll is despicable. And just when I'm about to get angry, she makes me laugh with her rants. Especially the end when she screamed a second "WHORE" even after slamming the door shut was hilarious. 😂 Also, if I didn't know better, I could have really assumed someone else was voicing this character. The contrast between these two roles is just so great and really showcases DAs range. I'm very interested what this hint at a greater plot in the background was about now. Fantastic work, DA and sofi!

I already adored the first part, so it should come as no surprise that as soon as this one dropped, I listened to it immediately, even tho I was still at work LOL! But let me just say, even tho I had no idea what to expect in this part, it was SO unbelievably good on so many levels! Of course, as always, DA has an excellent vampire mistress voice! I love the regal and stern, yet still protective and somewhat empathetic, vibe she gives off. And I like her poetic, flowery way of speaking. Sofi, you’re so good at balancing sillier dialogue with heartfelt and professional dialogue. You’re a brilliant writer and I have MAD respect for you! I like that you also actually showed us what it’s like to see a vampire after she’d fed, her skin being warmer and more “colorful”, and I liked the heartbeat SFX a lot. It was such a small touch but actually really cool. Just, the entire scene, getting to see a vampire “coming back to life” and keep her companion warm was really unique and creative. Oh but listening to her talk about human food, that’s just normal Dangerous, LOL! I also like that the listener’s nickname is Doll. IDK, I just am glad we sort of have a name without directly having a name. And doll is a nice nickname. And I loved getting to hear a bit of the backstory on the servant. Hearing the vampire talk about her affection for the servant was really cute and sweet. And I’m intrigued by this “skin care” routine of theirs. I think I can guess, but it was definitely a nice add-in. But the actual explanation for why the servant is so yandere was really what drew me in. Yes it was sad, and so was the vampire’s reaction as she recollected it, but I actually really love that idea of their blood bond (or whatever you call it) going too far, and that’s why the servant is so obsessed. Like, that was REALLY creative to me. And again, hearing the vampire’s regret over it was just so sad, but in an almost touching way. I love that she really does love her servant, and regrets accidentally infantilizing her. And of course that gives the servant a new dimension. Like, I already felt bad for her, suffering from intense envy and fear, but to think that she once might have been different, and more stable, makes it even sadder. Curse you Sofi! LOL! Just, the poor vampire ughhhhh I mean, it makes sense. Like the vampire says, mortal minds weren’t meant for this sort of life, but I’m loving the lore and backstory here! I swear, I’d read a novelization of this story. Sofi, get on it! And sign my copy of the book, pretty please? LOL! And DA, your performance as the vampire in this scene is just so flawless! So much emotion despite the vampire having a fairly flat tone. At least until the listener challenges her. And then we get to see some real anger, and once again, I was sitting there like “Oh shit you made her mad! RUN!” LOL! But as spoopy as the moment of anger was, it was like a beautiful pain bc a huge guilty pleasure for me is seeing how deeply one person can care for another, even to the point of drawing out more intense, protective, negative emotions. “Don’t ever presume to question my affection!” such an excellent line! Honestly one of my favorite in this part, and DA’s delivery was just as unnerving and powerful and sad. Sofi, you’ve created such a great drama! I’m sorry you ever still doubt your writing! Every character is so fascinating to me and, again, the dialogue is excellent! I wish I had a fraction of your skill, LOL! And I love that the vampire slips into an accent as she slips back into her past. That was a really cool touch (and a great excuse for more accents, LOL). But thousands of years old? Whew! I’d like to read a biography on HER life! No wonder she’s so scared of losing the last of her humanity. Like, when she confessed to being terrified, I just felt so bad for her bc it isn’t often a vampire shows vulnerability. And to listen to her talk about all the other lovers she’s had and turned was really sad. Was she really the only one capable of retaining her humanity for so long? Sofi, I like the way you write your vampires. Even if you took lore from preexisting sources, I just like your spin on them here. I also like her description of humanity. Sounds about right. As cliché as the “vampire is scared to lose the last of their humanity” fight is, I think you really wrote the vampire’s monologue quite well. And of course, DA’s performance was really heartfelt. A quiet but intense passion. Determined, scared and sad all at once. This comment really doesn’t do enough to convey how hyped I was listening to this! But I like that she’s turning the listener into her tether to her human side. Her anchor and vestige of humanity, as she puts it. And I know she means that in a literal way (blood) but I like the metaphorical implication too. That as much as she loves her servant, the servant is so far gone that we have to be the new human she keeps close, in order to remind her to keep her own sanity. Damn Sofi, why you gotta be so sad? LOL! Like, the desperation in the vampire’s voice as she tries to explain why she wants to use our suffering as a conduit for her own, so that she can suffer through and with us, was really incredible. Like I said above, the written word and the delivery thereof is just so good. DA and Sofi, you guys work very well together! I swear I’m not kidding when I say this audio got my heart pounding bc of how urgent, emotional and desperate the performance was, and how beautifully painful the concept was. The vampire is her own prisoner, her previous companion now even more insane than she is (and by her own doing, as she is so haunted by, even tho she doesn’t show it), so now she’s turning to us in hopes that we can help her hold out a little while longer, so that she can feel things again, even if they’re only intense and negative. That’s good SHIT!!! “Was what you had before REALLY that much better?” Ouch. But tbh, she has a point, and the fact that she called us out on it… Yeah I’m willing to conceded. And also, I’m weak for fascinating characters with intriguing personalities and shady, tragic backstories. The writer in me is content. LOL “Give me your life and I’ll give you mine. Be the ember that sparks the fire in my barren chest. Feed the flame and I WILL take care of you in all the ways you need.” SOFI HOW CAN YOU THINK YOUR WRITING ISN’T GOOD? I’d say this line (particularly the “Be the ember that sparks the fire in my barren chest.”) is my second favorite line bc it’s just really gorgeous, and it’s poetic in a way that doesn’t feel pretentious. If you’ve ever seen that Sully meme where he’s doing the “ok” hands, I swear on my life I literally became that meme first time I heard that line. Just… MMMM IT’S GOOD (I’m telling you, text alone can’t convey how I really feel about the audio and I hate that, LOL) But as caring and vulnerable as she is with us, I like that she’s still far from soft. It was sprinkled throughout the entire scene, but her closing line basically sums it up, where she tells us that in the end, no matter what we choose to do, she gets what she wants and what happens to us is immaterial to her (in that, even though she may genuinely care for our wellbeing, that care only extends so far). I like that as concerned as she is for/with us, she can still be just as dismissive barely a second later. And the transition between these 2 moods was so perfectly subtle. Once again, massive kudos to DA’s stellar performance, sliding from empathy to indifference in just 2 sentences, and all while only subtly changing tone. And of course, kudos to Sofi for writing the character this way, and writing dialogue that so perfectly encapsulates that part of her personality. I’m so sorry if this comment sounds like me just kissing up to you 2 but I really, REALLY was blown away by this audio, having physical reactions to it and laughing and clapping WHILE it was playing. I am not kidding. It’s just SO GOOD (ok sorry I’m now also becoming a broken record, LOL) Yeah, Sofi, I like her poetic way of speaking. And again, the way DA reads those lines is just… divine! (Trying to restrain myself from listing every synonym in the thesaurus, LOL). Oh, and of course it was funny getting to see the servant again. As bad as I feel for her, I just can’t help but laugh bc she’s such a stark contrast from the vampire (intentionally so, I know). I just like that while the vampire speaks smoothly and formally, the servant is much louder and emotional, as well as speaking with a much sillier and modern vocabulary (all her threats to the listener had me giggling like a fool). For the millionth time, bravo DA for showing such an incredible range by playing your own domme and sub LOL. I’d swear it was 2 different people, LOL “Goes on forever too, that’s how you know it’s authentic!” LOL see?! Right there! This is why the servant makes me laugh and why I love her contrast with the vampire! And it’s yet another example of Sofi’s stellar writing. :P (Also, it’s me looking at all the stupid scholarly articles I have to use for various essays and research projects, LOL) But now you’re hinting again at a bigger plot outside of our main trio and you have the writer in me bursting at the seams once again. TELL ME WHAT’S HAPPENING SOFI, PLZ!!!! I’LL DO ANYTHING!!! PLZ!!! Lol Also, sidenote, freaking poor servant! Altho I agree she shouldn’t have mistreated the listener I can’t help but feel really bad for her (example # “I lost count” of why Sofi is good at writing likable unlikable characters, LOL). I almost wanna hug her, even tho that’s a really bad idea, LOL. Also, listening to her rant outside the door and say “bitch” twice in her insult was so hilarious to me (and it’s also a mood). And DA’s hissy delivery only made it even funnier! Seriously, I love how her temper is in such stark contrast with the vampire’s. It’s fun to admire her tantrums (from a safe distance of “over the phone, through earbuds” LOL) She’s so unhinged and DA’s performance, hopping back and forth between snarling and trying to act sweet, was so good (when it wasn’t making ME jump, bc I’m a big scaredy cat, LOL) But I have to say, when the servant gets protective and threatens to gut the listener if they ever try to hurt the vampire, that activated the guilty pleasure side of me again and I was like “awwwww so sweet!!! #goals!” LOL! Seriously, I love how mutual the affection between the vampire and servant is, even tho it’s obviously unhealthy (and the vampire seems to be restraining herself from being too affectionate…) “Are you naked under there?!” (gags) LOL! Poor servant. Even the way her voice breaks a little when she recognizes the vampire’s imprint on the mattress (of fucking course it’s memory foam LOL, sometimes I forget this is a modern story) is so telling! Seriously, DA doesn’t miss a thing when she’s performing, does she? A round of applause that lasted forever wouldn’t be long enough, LOL “So I got you a sandwich.” “MAKE ME A SAMMICH!!!” Also, totally unimportant, but for some reason, the plastic crinkling SFX that happens when she hands over the sandwich made me laugh too. It’s such a tiny detail, but maybe that’s why it made me giggle. I was grinning like an idiot this entire audio, in case everything I’ve word-vomited out hasn’t already made that clear, LOL “How are you this dumb?!” (me @ me) But OMG her roasts her hilarious! “I’m gonna kill you with a fucking sandwich, that’s stupid!” LOLOLOLOL and there’s my 4th favorite line! (I had to control myself to keep from commentating on every line in this audio bc every single line was so good! It was either heartfelt and touching, or impressive, or just fucking hilarious!! LOL) OMG the line about the hotdogs! Almost forgot that one! Ok THAT is my 4th favorite, then the sandwich one is next. Again, as silly and ridiculous as what she says is, I honestly think that makes her an even better contrast from the vampire. And also, I just like listening to her rant. As much as I’d like to know what she used to be like, I can’t deny that this new version of her gets quite a few laughs from me! OMG AND THE LINE ABOUT PICKLES!!! I have to laugh at the listener now too, for daring to complain about it while this love-crazed yandere (wink wink) is right there. But tbh that’s me! I don’t like pickles, I’d be that bitch to bitch about the food while in captivity. I fucking love this series so much LOL, it’s got everything I could ever ask for! Sofi, thank you so much for writing it! And of course, DA, thank you so much for performing it! Both roles were stellar! But tbf, they do sum up some of your greatest strengths: the vampire type and the yandere type. No wonder the deliveries were so perfect and fun to listen to! (Seriously, the whole last bit with the yandere and the pickles had me in stitches!) “Picky eaters are the absolute worst!” (As one, I can confirm) OMG I DIDN’T NOTICE THE SECOND CRINKLE SFX AT THE END THE FIRST TIME I LISTENED! I’M DEAD! The only thing that would’ve been funnier is if you’d had some eating SFX too, LOLOLOLOL! But OMG you guys, this was such an incredible listen and I had such a blast, you don’t even KNOW! I WISH you could’ve seen my face during this whole thing bc it was FANTASTIC! I know I say this all the time, but both DA and Sofi did marvelous, bangin’ jobs and I’m not kidding when I say this is definitely a new favorite series of mine! Job well done, both of you!

Oh my goodness! This audio was absolutely fantastic and I'm in love with this series!! Sofi, the way you have given the characters such a rich back story and inner life truly comes through in every interaction. I love the complexity of the developing relationships and the humor that you add in. DA, wonderfully immersive as always. I love the richness and variety within her voice. All of it.
