In 2014, I went on my first model-shooting road trip.
Before picking up a model, whom I was traveling with for three days, I shot a couple of others who lived nearby.
This particular one, which I’ll let remain anonymous, illustrates the issue of seeking a “pretty face' without modeling skills.
These are the best four images from a 3-hour session.
Two images are Ok but not great, and the last two illustrate what happens when the model can’t express emotion (except for looking uncomfortable).
I don’t think she was uncomfortable, as we had dinner afterward, and she seemed quite relaxed. But she had little to no modeling experience.
I don't know why I ended up editing the last two images. I probably felt I should for the model, but she hated the last two images as much as I did.
This is the first time they have been published, and they are used here more as a cautionary tale about why it’s worth working with models instead of just a pretty face.
