Great video Cody. Well done!
I wonder how much gold ended up in the tailings

i think so, my only concern would be changing the orientation of the magnetic field and possibly causing more iron to stay in the sand stream. his setup works well as is, so imho it'd only be worth tweaking if it avoided the need to run the tailings through again

shouldn't increased divergence result in both piles being more pure? Like the gap between them is bigger so the sand only lands outside the bucket vs on edge/inside

on the 2 containers of magnetite, 2 * 17 gal * 20 lb = 680. You said about 800. I get how you got there by rounding 17 to 20 for quick mental math (or i assume that's what happened). I guess it all depends on how much rounding "about" allows.

Wait, did I math wrong?

if most the remaining dustiness is sand dust, will a chaff removal like method do good at making it much more pure?

if making mods, maybe add onscreen note with 680 lb or ~700 lb or something, just a thought [edit - added missing "or" and removed space after "~"]

8:39 would be good if the white had some transparency so you can still see the features

ingenious process! thanks for the explanation, i was going to ask how you came up with it :)
if you slightly tilt the top of the magnet forward (over the sand) and/or the bottom backwards (over the magnetite), does it improve the yield? or does it just increase divergence between the streams while leaving more magnetite in the tailings?

since you are trenching your arroyos, have you considered building beaver dam analogs? The guy at dustups ranch youtube got a grant to build like 20, in the most arid part of texas.
