To go west to China is about 7000 miles which is about 13hours. If your research how long it takes to go from america to china in the other direction pass Europe which is East is a total of 9500 miles that's a 16hour flight without stopping. Because the globe is round, shorter distances can be made to get to countries instead of going straight on a flat map in one direction. Where would a flat map world end what would be the last stop or first for that matter you'd just keep going... How could you distance measure and time how long or find short routes to countries if the globe is flat?? It wouldn't work all the routes would be long having to go back on yourself to get to the starting destination
