The dub scene with Gildarts talking to Natsu about fear also goes hard. I love this show! In terms of Natsu crying i think those were more happy tears. Not only did he pass but someone like Gildarts acknowledged him and encouraged him, but also showed how much stronger he needs to become.

You look at their take-over forms and you think at least Elfman is buffer even if he can't fly or throw darkness balls. And then she just easily stops his punch. Guy is just a beta if even version of Mirajane. Poor guy.

2024-09-16 21:40:02 +0000 UTCNatsu passing is very fair. At this point in the story fighting Erza and fighting Gildarts are not equivelent tests. Not that Erza isn't an absolute machine, but at this point in the story Gildarts stands pretty alone as essentially an SSS wizard.

2024-09-16 21:33:20 +0000 UTCDecided im not done fanboying over ep 99. Natsu full on crying for pretty much the first time realizing how far he has yet to go etc. Gildarts being so badass. It's kind of the first time Natsu and the main crew is shown not to be close to peak power and you realize how much they have left to go. And this arc in general essentially ending the prologue. Love this arc. Love this episode.
