Probably not the announcement everyone is expecting today, but it is what it is.
No, we're not dead. We merely need to alter the two-week release intervals and complete the MTWY roadmap timetable.
The plot already asks for numerous characters to interact with one another, as well as the scope of each scene becoming exceedingly vast.
I really don't want the scenes to be multiple dialogues, crammed into one render/animation as chapter 1 has. One of the reasons why, after the 10th chapter is completed, all prior chapters will be re-edited.
Adjusting just one scene and making sure all the details are well made already takes a couple of hours. Adding up multiple characters and interactions in that scene makes it eat up several. And with our endgame having multiple LIs into the player's midst, it will undoubtedly take more time and effort to produce.
This is in no way affected by outside factors but solely determined by the plot's current progress.
In the next chapter, it will be multiple characters interacting with each other to bring more life to the scene and make it more, well, ALIVE. Instead of clicking away at the dialogues with motionless figures on the screen scarcely expressing any emotion or true involvement.
It's a visual story, and I don't want to skimp on the visual element. I want this to be the best experience possible.
As a result, it is with a heavy heart that I extend our two-week release period to three weeks. I discussed this with EO, at length, this is needed. His idea was to cut the story more efficiently, making some of it shorter so we'll be able to fit it within our two-week timeframe but I took into consideration where the story stops each chapter on our initial layout, and it's excellent, pacing-wise. As well as each chapter's conclusions being a perfect cliff-hanger, with things resolved/built-up properly while leaving the audience wanting more.
I understand any potential/current supporters' apprehensions about our game, especially as our present timeline and roadmap are constantly being rolled over. So I believe this is the best option and will solve our scheduling issues, allowing us to finally stop letting people down on our DATES. I don't want to rush any portion of the game, and our previous tempo had us biting off more than we could chew. I care too much about what we're building to cut corners merely to get it done faster.
We've also decided to split MTWY into many builds because the present file size is already large with only 1/4-1/5 of the story told. For example, book 1 is chapters 1-10, and book 2 is chapters 11-20. However, this isn't final; we're still debating how we'll divide the chapters, but there will be a version with the entire game in one build at the end of it all.
This roadmap I'll be posting will be concrete and I promise will be followed to the day:
Feb 20, 2022 - Chapter 9 Exclusive Release
Feb 24, 2022 - Chapter 9 Public Release
March 13, 2022 - Chapter 10 Exclusive Release
March 19, 2022 - Chapter 10 Public Release
March 13-30, 2022 - Polishing of built book 1 contents and backlogs(details in the previous post). Patreon page adjustment, activities, and rewards.
March 31, 2022 - Re-Edited/Mastered Chapter 10 Release
April 20, 2022 - Chapter 11 Exclusive Release
April 25, 2022 - Chapter 11 Public Release
I'm not making any guarantees, but I believe a release earlier than anticipated is still possible, and we will do so if we can, but at the absolute least, it will be on time.
Thank you for your support.
P.S. This image is a actually a commercial break render for Chapter 9 and is the first to feature all of the game's main Love Interests.
