January Preview Models, the Fabric Seller!

The Fabric Seller comes with a complete set of props just for him, it's a set that we love and that comes to join the NPC sets that you like so much. The Fabric Seller and his props will be available in the January release.

Thank you all very much for your comments and ideas for the next set, we will continue making character + props sets and we will make some heroes or creatures at the same time but without stopping creating the NPC sets with props.

Tell us what you think, in a few days we will show you some of the werewolves that will be available in the January release.

Thank you!

While many shop encounters are relatively quick, there have has been enough time spent in shops that I could see this being worth while. As a generic npc model without the props I probably wouldn't bother setting up the mini's, but these would make it worth while.

30 years running games. I use merchants and store workers all the time. What is missing to me is the apprentices, and other people. The. Wife or child helping. I love using an abused underling as a plot device.

Matthew Kienbaum

With respect (only 30yrs in RPGs here), I have to disagree with you there Alex as I will be printing this guy for sure. I have campaigns where I put a lot of interactivity and character into my NPCs through narrative and voice. For the longest time there simply haven't been minis to represent these characters and it's one of the main reasons I am here. :]

Adam

Like the terrain, but the NPC will never get printed as the merchant/store NPCs like this are just not important enough and the party interactions with these types of NPCs only lasts mere minutes. In almost 40 years of running/playing D&D games... just the way it goes. HOWEVER - if you can produce a version of these NPC models without bolts of cloth (or holding a dead rabbit), then the models become MUCH more useful for many encounters. Just some thoughts.

I just signed up tonigh. The NPC sets is what got me to sign on! I saw someone recommend a Apothecary or Alchemist set?? I second that! I'm one of those that gets really excited painting all the bits and bobs! I can just imagine what those might look like!!

Daniel Williams

I really like the NPC sets/ art style as well. You found a niche not many Patreons do (NPCs). If you need additional ideas, I would turn to traditional MMOs. Blackmarket set, alchemist, enchanter, Trainers for different classes, etc. They don't need to be human either (if you were trying to do other races). If you do end up going into more of the monsters, I would suggest making it more scenario based for an encounter.

I love the fact that you're doing the npc sets, it makes total sense! Please continue this, maybe making the hands or head have multiples so we can change them? I'm just spitballing, maybe have 1 extra mini npc to the mix ?

Jester

Absolutely keep up with the NPC sets. It sets you apart from the rest. Love what you are doing. I agree with the concept of creating multiple NPCs for the same set. Even multiple poses for the same NPC. Again, love what you are doing.

Scott Ehmer

Half of what I look for is stuff that's interesting to paint. These townies have more character than a lot of heroes, worth putting a lot of effort into.

Rob Silvester

It's a fair point, an 'NPC/props only' tier might bring in or keep some people who are on a tight budget and have to weigh every month's content across multiple subscriptions.

Rob Silvester

Agree with everyone who has said to keep going with the NPC sets. Still so many options to go with and when you want to get away from human NPC's you can release diferent races for existing sets as well as new sets, ie: you could make a catfolk cloth merchant, a goblin alchemist, an orc tanner or butcher, so many varieties to add on to existing releases!

James Harrison

Amazing!!! Simply amazing. Love it.

Would like to see a turn towards town NPC’s in a bit more general vibe: Town Crier with Bounty Board, Lord & Lady with some children - maybe with different races(?) - Elven nobles, Half-Orc Chieftain, etc. folks likely to be handing out quests, maybe a set of Farmers with animals - need a good source of pigs, goats, oxen, cows, horses, chickens and geese - dogs & cats - would be wonderful scatter terrain and sheep could be used in a fun way with guard hats on & perplexed looks as the Mage turns the guard into a sheep sort of thing. So many ways you could go to continue down your current NPC path. Thanks again and Merry Christmas

I love that your models aren't just figures standing at near attention like a statue. They have a dynamic quality that makes you consider what they may be doing.

Trenton

Or whole complete wall sections that could be switched out to reveal walls that have been broken down, opened, or melted or something of that nature. Like how the fountain was either dry or running and could just be switched for each other.

Jeff

Or how about 3 or 4 different sorts of functional secret doors? Maybe some secret doors that would seamlessly fit with different medium sources...like gothic or fieldstone Hirst molds? Or doors that open in unusual ways? Or functional traps?

Jeff

Or cool spell effects. I know wiz kids has a decent one and I was able to get some fire effects from Etsy. But the fires were either too flat looking or were all the same size. I would like some tiny fires. Maybe a wall of fire or whatever that could be built in sections to desired length. Or more realistic mists and poisons clouds. Or a small patch of 1” floor tiles with multiple rats constructed to the floor. Or if you want to design figures...then do a bunch of dead ones that are highly detailed. There’s no good quality dead NPCs out there.

Jeff

I wonder if it would be hard to design or hard to print different sorts of spider webs? Like ones that hang from the corners, ones that can close off a small hallway. Or maybe a large one that could be cut to shape. I haven’t been able to find decent spider webs anywhere. I like the fabric seller but it’s a one time use item. (Which is still fine.) I would like specialty items that would be much more common but still plug a gap in what’s available in the world. Or different lengths of vines and creeping roots. I need random but more common stuff like that to detail rooms that wouldn’t necessarily require a specially-themed piece of furniture.

Jeff

I love it. I also deff think there is room for both on the monsters creatures and prop characters. It would be easy to incorporate monsters into a dungeon set with a jailer, demons into an exorcist set with priests and inquisitors, vampires and vampire hunters. Or construction crews that have ogres or giants etc. something has to build those city walls :)

preston neill

Yes I realise that, as that's why I paid my money to get them. I'm merely voicing my preferences as to what I'm willing to give my money for. I also backed the kickstarter earlier this year as well. I'm sorry that I'm not as rich as yourself in order to afford to spend money on things I don't want, I wish I was. I don't see how that's harsh to voice my opinion, when this update asks us to do exactly that?

Jon Bowers

You realize that every single of the ~50 models and props he has done so far are all human NPCs? That seems very harsh to cancel your membership and pressure the artist to add additional tiers because he is doing human NPCs and Werewolves in January.

Nikolas Morse

Amazing, he just got a home in my city! I love the props 💕 thank u

Beren Gl

I love the NPCs you're doing but I've no interest in werewolves (or other creatures) so I'm going to have to cancel as money is too tight to pay for things I don't really want. I would likely be interested in player character models. If you just had a pledge level for the NPC without the werewolves then I would consider switching to that.

Jon Bowers

I may be wrong, but this is probably the first time I've seen a fabric seller with wonderful props as stl files. Well done, Sir. Long may you prosper and produce great and inventive stuff like this!
