January Concepts Preview!

Hello to all!

We bring you a little preview of the January models, we are going to make a fabric seller with all his props and we are going to start creating creatures! This is where we need your help!

The first set of creatures are going to be werewolfs! a whole gang of them!

But we would like you to leave us comments on what creatures or characters you would like us to make for the next few months.

With all the suggestions you leave in the comments we will make a survey to decide which will be the next set.

Merry Christmas to all of you and I hope you like the concepts we have prepared! Thanks!

I would like to see female Werewolfs as well

Scott

Personally I would like to see an Apocathary and/or a alchemist supplies merchant.

Scott Sherrets

I love the profession with the props every month. I like the idea of adding monsters/enemies each month also. To bring it all together it would be great if you could make a battle ready version of each shop keeper that we could incorporate into fighting the added enemies/monsters.

Isael Martinez

The artist just did his first kickstarter with a lot of what you are suggesting! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stlminiatures/3d-printable-city-of-firwood-stl-files I can't speak for him but those models will probably be available for purchase somewhere after he delivers them to backers.

Nikolas Morse

I joined, because I loved the style of the characters and props and the fact it's apparently about characters and props. I'm not so keen about 'enemies'/creatures. I would rather see the town growing. * A tavern with barmaid, bard, guests, tables, chairs * Different type of vendors * An alchemist * Market stalls with barkers and stuff to sell vegetable, fish, fruits, meat * A royal court with a king, throne, a jester * An encampment with tents, fire place * A jousting tournament * Oxen or horses pulling different kind of wagons (optionally usable with the blacksmith wagon) * A mine with carts, tracks, mining equipment * A dock with fishermen, fish crates, crab cages, fishing rods * A temple - although I'm not sure how to pull this one of without having a specific deity in mind * A lumber camp with lumber jacks, cut down trees, tree stumps * A sawmill * A carpenter (I know - the last three were very wood focused) * A bakery with an oven and bread and other props * A distillery with wild tubing, flasks, barrels * A pottery with pottery wheel, vases, urns * A training ground with archery targets, dummy enemies * Farm setting with farm animals, haystacks, trough * Maybe even a barber Two more professions came to mind gem cutter or cartographer. As an artwork they might work, but I can't think of many props to add.

Jochen Loeser

I love the magic shop and potion shop idea. I would also like to see terrain pieces (forest, cliffs, caves, dungeons).

Thomas Jacobs

About the KS... is there a way to late pledge or something?

Angel Sainz

I would like you to continue to bring the town alive. Full set of the tavern interior with humans, drinking, eating, dancing, a bard or two, A bunch of different people siting (this is one thing I almost never see).

Michael Haught

NPCs I’d love to see maybe either a traveling merchant who specializes in magic items or someone who runs a potion shop.

Terry McNemar

Maybe split the difference and do creature npcs with props? Picturing a harpy fletcher selling some fancy bows and arrows, or a mermaid selling pearls and shell jewelry or armored made of coral? A hag (in both hag and disguised sweet grandmother) selling cursed pies, the options are endless and help enrich both terrain and make some interesting characters to get rare ingredients from.

Dennis Moore

It might be cool to see your take on ghosts, wraiths, spectres, banshees, ghouls, and ghasts - and other undead ilk. Along with piles of crypt terrain! :) ...and of course, some huge/gargantuan dragons. :D

Alex A

Or start a different page for figures. It would be too bad if we lost something that is this good. I want the artist to be successful.

Jeff

Well sure. I would support all sorts of artists of the like if I had lots of money. I really like the style of the Kickstarter content. That was easily worth the money. I didn’t mean to come off too panicky. Lol. But I probably won’t stay a supporter if model topics stay too far from the Kickstarter. And maybe the artist will be just fine without me. But my hunch is that there’s quite a few game designers here right now because they can’t find quality room decor or other original furniture pieces. If I was the artist...I would take note - or

Jeff

I hear what you're saying Jeff, but I can imagine that, as a creator, lifeless stuff gets dull really fast. On the other hand, it would be a shame if the creators started churning out the same old generic stuff everyone else is doing as well. Maybe look for a nice middle ground?

Marc Hutsebaut

Yes, bodies, casualties, (civilian) people sleeping, drunk, passed out ... I'm actually quite a normal guy, you know ;)

Marc Hutsebaut

I’m kind of in between. Yes the props and buildings are the main draw but your style, almost a Disney cartoony look is mesmerizing. So for me anything will be great. I know people are sick of Goblins and Skeletons and such but I also know if you’re doing them they will have a unique look to them, something I cannot get anywhere else so I’m good with whatever you want to do. Just don’t stop making stuff to detail in Firwood. Merchants, residents, all the detail props that really make it come alive. You’ve struck gold with that!

Karsten Krahe

"Various horses, animals and other familiars would be cool." +1. I need animal companion for my tabletop game !

Benoît Passion

Would love to see some stuff that can be nicely integrated into players backstories, druidic circles, monastery props, temple props etc.

Basil Fuchs

I love the werewolves concepts. I agree with others that undead would be cool if they were done differently somehow (i.e. zombie creatures). Various horses, animals and other familiars would be cool. You could also do nightmares and other evil versions of the domesticated ones for NPCs. I also like Chris Hooper’s idea of outdoor landscapes or scatter terrain.

Steven Moebes

I love your signature, scatter prop style. But i see no reason why you can't relate them to a set of monsters. For instance, i would find it awesome if you had your normal set of props, graveyard stuffs, complete with graveyard keeper, some real creepy spirits and ghouls for the monsters. Another direction could be maybe these werewolves you are designing are actually a team of lumberjacks and theres a bunch of stumps, logging machinery and axes? Another example could be dock workers with all the cool rope, wood and anchor props you can fit in there. But the monsters would be some kind of sharkraider barbarians, or an orca gang, or the crab mafia. theming them together would be a considerable challenge, and may change the kind of scatter props you produce, but i think it could still be awesome!

Daniel Burnworth

How about some limited size outdoor landscapes for dioramas? A creek side? Rocky grotto? Swamp area? Small waterfall? Also, a nice set of different types of witches would be cool!

Chris Hooper

As above... and loving the Joe Madureira style.

Mistigri

Maybe the Fabric merchant is actually a werewolf....

Ravenous Miniatures

Hobgoblins, please! Also any useable everyday monsters like bugbears and greater goblins. Displacer beasts, harpies, owlbears and such would be nice too.

Alex K

I’m fine with anything really but if you guys want to create werewolves because you want to, just go ahead and do it! I understand people’s preferences but honestly I like to think Patreon as a “support the artist” kind of thing and not a service for fans. I mean. It’s okay to keep the audience happy, just make sure you keep things fun for you too 😊

Geist

Love your designs they have all printed great so far. I also agree that I enjoy how these figures also include a lot of scatter and props making them more of a complete set. I also like the idea of the undersea village, maybe some sort of underwater creatures with barnacles stuck to them with some scatter terrain.

Tyler

I'm with all the people who have already voiced what makes your minis so compelling is the fact that they do something so different then everyone else--NPCs, props, village material, as opposed to more standard creatures. I would also support more things like craftspeople with tools, furniture, livestock, especially with harnesses and wagons. It doesn't all have to be standard Medieval. If you want to branch out, I would love to see NPCs, mounts, buildings etc. based on other earth cultures or even something like material for an undersea village as opposed to typical merfolk warriors.

Alison Gross

The scatter terrain and props are what sets you apart from all other sculptors please keep going in this direction your style is perfect for filling dungeons and towns with awesome decor

Snk Attack Prints

I also wouldn’t mind props that could fit into blood bowl or just fighting stadiums in general

preston neill

I use your stuff to.add merchants to my blood bowl stadium. Probably a unique ask on my part, but I would love sportscasters and props!

Woodrow Arrington

The props is what drew me to your KS and your patreon, I have lots of them that make monsters and others, but none of them focus on props and NPC that fit in with them. I would love to see what you did with the leather shop and butcher, expand the sets you have while adding others. It is your patreon so you do you, but props is what got me here.

Frederick A Williams

I think going along with your strength for props you could do props and mimic versions of those for a month (one month should be enough mimics to last most people a while).

Kevin Delger

Horses, oxen, rams, maybe some skeleton versions to pull the wagons. Full room sets of props. Why not make a full set to support an arms dealer or a Baker, small hunt included. A theme of a royal tournament maybe jousting, mud pit for wrestling, archery range little vendor shacks or tents, a pinup set of primcesses you can battle for their hand in marriage.

Jeff Michalz

To be frank I don't care for creatures. There's no many creators doing great monsters already. But great NPCs and props like you do, there's not so much. I would prefer you stick to that, but that's your Patreon, do whatever you feel like!

Sub Blast

The problem with traditional mini companies is that they have almost exclusively produced what's going to sell the most...and what sells the most (creature-wise) are goblins, kobolds, skeletons and zombies (human ones), werewolves and vampires, orcs, dragons, etc. Patreon gives you the chance to break out of that and many supporters are looking for things they can't get elsewhere. My suggestion is to become one of the artists that gives supporters that "something different" they're looking for. So I think your werewolves theme is going down the path of "what everyone else is doing". I have seen werewolves and vampires in so many Patreons this year. I'll still support you, and I like the poses you've come up with, but as you move forward I'd like to see some less-sculpted things I can use during gameplay. And there's nothing saying you can't still throw in some common creatures with a set. Let's take goblins for example. I typically see goblins and an occasional bugbear or two thrown in. I don't think I've seen anyone do Hobgoblins. Angel Sainz posted a good suggestion with zombies other than human ones. Same would go for skeletons. Let's take giants as another example. Most people stop at fire and frost giants (and trolls). There are other giant types needed on our gaming tables, but most don't bother to do them. Anyway, there's an open canvas for your future art direction, and my suggestion is to make it yours. I'm sure whatever you sculpt will keep me around, but it sure would be nice to get some new options for my gaming table. Cheers!

Rob Leonard

The fabric seller is great, I guess some NPCs and their props like your KS would be nice. There's already many were-creature around, but few good looking props to full our dungeons, camp, village..

Beren Gl

I agree, would like to see zombified creatures other than humans. Some large, some small...creatures that adventurers would fight normally, but zombie versions.

Rob Leonard

I’d stick to the non-figure models that were in the Kickstarter. That’s why it was successful. Those were pretty original. I can easily find miniature figures everywhere I look. I find it difficult to get original room pieces or themed furniture. I’d come up with an idea and check if it’s available elsewhere. If it is...don’t do that model.

Jeff

Loving those werewolves. Other werecreatures would be cool. I would love to see all creatures repersented. Also demon and devils Also races from D&D/pathfinder Shifters, from Ebberon. Changlings normal form. Kenku Genesi Gith Ect....... But keeping with your style' I think figuring out what monster would go best with the "NPC/Terrain" set you have in mind would be cool as well

Ravenous Miniatures

Those werewolves are way cool!! For the next sets I’d like some a little less usual. I’ve been searching for some zombie trolls (or even zombie minotaurs). I don’t know why, even in fantasy settings, the only creatures that get zombified are humans. And on a similar note, something that could be considered a prop: dead bodies. Dead orcs, dwarves,...

Angel Sainz

i love your market stuff. would be great if you support games like frostgrave; mortheim .... with alternative models. A part of Monsters like skelletons zombis would great to. a big range of heroes would be also nice too.

Rene Bürger

I would love to see some underwater mounts. Particularly orcas, narwhals, beluga whales and dolphins. Mean looking ones. Not cute. Tough, mean, angry, violent, underwater mounts. If they happened to be ridden by fish elves (similar to the infamous GW Idoneth Deepkin) that would be awesome too. But the mounts are the main thing. Angry orcas with saddles and howdas. Thanks. And Merry Christmas to you. Thanks for the great models!

Simon Kingaby

Creatures from folklore please. Slavic (e.g. Witcher 3), African, Celtic, Eastern...always feels like such a large untapped genre.

Sunette

Beautiful concepts for January - Kudos

Kenneth Gatt

Can we have some horses/pulling cattle (with harnesses?) for the carts from last months? Printed some from other sites, but it's just not the same. :)
