A.I. art generation has been making me a bit crazy. It's exciting, scary and addictive.

Some fanmade models of Aeon exist. For myself, using AI to generate images that look like my own drawings is pretty pointless, so I didn't use them. The pleasure of AI art is in the novelty of the unexpected. I seek out the work of artists always with the hope of surprise, which of course I can never get from my own work. It's a different medium entirely from traditional drawing. It's ego-free. I feel no pride nor do I give credit to myself for what I see, and that's strangely liberating.

I love to see Aeon depicted on classy posters like this and I think its very valuable that you're joining the discussion about AI You might like these, which I saved last year to share on your Discord: https://www.reddit.com/r/sdnsfw/comments/14yowr2/%C3%A6on_flux_inspired_by_the_original_series_not_the/?force_seo=1 I've always found your no-nonsense view of the labor of art to be a much needed voice of reason, I think its horrifying to consider people chasing a vague aesthetic goal for a lifetime which might be realized and discarded in 15 minutes with the use of AI. I think of artists like Boris Vajello who comes across basically as a moron who synthesizes 1:1 reference images of bodybuilders and zoo animals not unlike AI, his technique is masterful but his subject matter is trite. Luis Royo is another who comes to mind. I do love both of these artists but their oeuvre has the embarrassing quality of nocturnal emissions. If these artists were born today, AI would facilitate them playing out their fantasies ad-nauseum without anyone ever seeing it. To contrast with 2 other examples; Frazetta and Giger have a kind of edge to their output which goes beyond the images, the strength of their concepts does not terminate at the result, but seems to have an autonomous vitality. Tools and aesthetic qualia hold no answers, exploring them to find a direction is a dangerous illusion. AI seems to neither resolve or exacerbate this problem where only the strength of an idea counts in the long term. There is no substitute for an idea which excites the mind and sets in order all processes that follow, artificial or otherwise

I've never thought that my contribution as an artist had much to do with my skill at drawing. In fact, I've been often annoyed by the response to my animation which praises the drawing quality. I put way more thought and creativity into the way my work conveys ideas and makes the viewer think. In many cases, the drawings have been an obstacle against engagement with the ideas. It's impossible to get an animation crew to all adopt my way of drawing. I've accepted that and will happily move on. I will cite Bill Plympton as a guy who tells me every time how much he likes my work, and for him, it's always about the look. He'll go on and on about how well drawn he thinks it is. I do not take these words as compliments. While on the old Aeon Flux message boards, I used to engage with fans, The discussion was always about storytelling, psychology, politics, philosophy, ethics, and it was rare that anyone would bring up the way my animation was drawn. That to me, was the clearest vindication that my efforts were successful. https://www.ilxor.com/ILX/NewAnswersControllerServlet?boardid=59

Your authentic style is vastly superior and more unique in my opinion.. Which is not everything but is certainly not nothing, either. Sure, AI could likely replicate that fully some day, but I think audiences will still crave a human touch, for the same curious reasons we don’t watch AIs play chess against each other even though they’re superior to the world’s grandmasters
