This was the last episode of Season 1 "Where the Wind Rises" and I think it's a good cutoff point to switch from dub to sub next month instead of randomly in the middle of the season^^ Anyways, I think it only gets better, including the animation which gets better like every 20 episodes

Love and friendship are often seen as good and the source of power in other media like Anime, but I think here it's different because xianxia is rooted in taoist and buddhist traditions. IRL Chinese that join the temple (I'm sorry, i forgot if this is taoism or buddhism) completely cut ties with their family and abandon their name forever. A big part of cultivation is shedding worldly ties and attachments, that's why Han Li left his family with some gifts without talking to them one last time. Enemies can target your loved ones. Another concept is a "heart demon", which is like a manifestation of past regrets or failures in your soul. It can be based on a person or event, and is something that HAS to be overcome to reach certain stages but it's never easy (Imagine intense trauma that tortures you for eternity... yikes). My guess is that this is one of the big reasons cultivators try to cut their worldly ties. There's also a concept of momentum: -The cultivators NEED the extended lifespan they have to reach the next stage more often than not. -Believing is in yourself and your Dao is imprtant. IDK how to explain it best... sorry :D
