Nobility is not a requirement; however, magical ability is essential. Only mages are eligible, for beauty alone is not enough in a kingdom ruled by sorcery.
Once selected, the Beauties assume prominent roles in national ceremonies and grand festivals, becoming symbols of the kingdom’s pride. They enjoy fame and public admiration, adored by nobles and commoners alike.
During the selection of a Queen or Crown Princess, these women are given special consideration, their beauty granting them an advantage few others possess. The only scenario in which a non-Beauty might be chosen over them is if she commands significantly greater magical power or hails from a status so exalted that even the title of Beauty cannot compete. For example, the woman (Moon Hye-rin) engaged to the Crown Prince (Cheon Ji-hwan) is rumoured to be a reincarnated goddess with exceptional control over her spiritual energy, giving her far superior status.
