MONTHLY RECAP: January 2025

Woah... There's no way it's already been a month of this new year! I don't know what you think, but for me it has flown by. It's likely that by the time I finish writing this post we'll already be in March!
Anyway, let's not waste time with nonsense and think about seeing a little bit of what happened in this first month.
You can see one thing right away in the opening: Since I can't embed a video in the middle of the text I had to necessarily put it as the opening, even though my usual drawing was supposed to be there (the writer is Jade, not Albo, don't forget that!)...
A few days ago Albo made this video, lately he's on the ball with Tiktok, he thinks, poor deluded man, that he can make himself known there as well, even though the kind of content he makes is not really suitable for the platform, which is even more puritanical than Meta, and that's no small thing! So, he decided to create this video about stereotypes of Italians and mispronunciations of their traditional food. If they don't shut down his account first (and Tiktok has already removed Charlie's posts to him for the most absurd excuses, like "Dangerous challenges" and "trying to influence the elections"!) he will make more like this. My guess is that as early as next month he will be without an account again.

Stereotypes about Italians getting pissed off when foreigners try to reproduce traditional Italian recipes make Albo nervous, because not all Italians are so fundamentalist and there is often no one way to prepare our typical dishes. Only there is a kind of indulgence if this kind of thing is done by a friend or family member of ours. If, on the other hand, someone from another country does it, it is a scandal.

After this long preamble, let's move on to recap what happened in January. All the regulars for each month restarted after the winter holidays. Charlie is back with her destructive charge that you can also see here, since the strip is not nsfw:

Speaking of Charlie, Albo drew one of Karmagik's characters in a style similar to that of my strips, and the result was definitely positive.

Speaking of drawing in a particular style, last month Albo participated in a new Draw This In Your Style (DTIYS), the second one he does for a challenge set by Anutka.
Anutka is already thinking about Valentine's Day so she has already done a lot of themed drawings and, not content, she also issued a challenge to do our version of one of her drawings. Here's Albo's version:

Have you seen the second season of Squid Game? Albo did a sketch for the occasion, in my own way.
Staying with the series theme, here's a Dana Scully in Simpsons version, taken from a very old episode of the cartoon.

Don't forget to celebrate because Chinese New Year is just around the corner and this coming year is the Year of the Snake. Could a celebratory drawing have been missing ? No, but this time Albo fused Eastern festivities with Western myths having to do with snakes.

There's not much to celebrate about certain categories of people who were coming out of the shadows with a lot of effort and now, thanks to a president who's a little too orange are quickly going back to the past ... and they're still okay with it all things considered because they're not yet threatened with being kicked out of their country. We have over the years developed a certain sensitivity for trans people and we am sorry that things are going this way. In the past few days because of this Albo made a protest drawing.

Oh yeas, Albo watched the inauguration of the new -urgh- presidency and drew this delicate and innocent cartoon:

This is as relevant as it gets in this first month of 2025!
