Soldier's Life Input for Next Spell Form - Time

For those that have been following the story closely know how the imprinting process works.  A person has an aether core and based on value of their affinity determines how powerful a spell form can be inscribed on their core.  If a person inscribes something lower than their affinity its power is just magnified.  So I am taking ideas on his 90 Time Affinity....what should he learn?  For ideas about his options I welcome suggestions.

Lesser Spell Forms (10-30)

Major Spell Forms (30-50)

Apex Major Spell Forms (50-70)

NOT LISTED IN HIS TEXT (70-90)

Replay time....MC goes back and relives the last few seconds....based on aether available...when he goes back all aether spent is gone so no retry over and over

There are higher spell forms but nothing the MC has access to unless he visits the Mage College.  Also, note how the MC is currently set up.  He may have powerful abilities but they do not last very long.  One use of storage before bottoming out aether.  These time spell forms only last seconds.  His aether shield has short duration ect...  So yes the MC needs to find some essence to increase his aether pool...it is out there

Ageless is what I'd do in his shoes. Its what I desire for the long game. Yeah, the short game might not work out, but... I'm an optimist.

Slow aging, so he and Konstantin can be hound buddies for centuries!

Well, our hero doesn’t have many choices in this particular case. He has too little ether to fully implement time dilation in battle or something similar. He now has only two options to choose from: Number one “Know Time” is the most practical for Eric in battles. And the second option concerns, of course, not the aging “Ageless” or the similar “Slow Aging”. I will explain the advantages of each option. We only have these three obvious options precisely because of Eric's incredibly weak magical potential. It would take Eric at least ten years to correct the situation with his weak etheric reserve - collecting the powers of the creatures he killed. "Know Time" is the only combat or life-saving ability that will cost virtually no ether to use, and will be more like a passive ability that, in the case of Eric with 90 points, can save lives many times in battle with creatures he has never encountered before . Also, "Know Time" could actually be called "Feeling Lucky" as a synonym. With the "Know Time" ability, which would be active 24 hours a day, it could save Eric's life countless times. For example: If Eric puts on his artifact necklace from the dungeon, then due to the active “Know Time” he would have time to wake up in time when the killers were going to attack him and kill him in his sleep. Thus, Eric would use every night to hone his physical and magical skills in his artifact. In the second option, the most practical ones are “Ageless” and “Slow Aging”, it would seem - everything is obvious here. But I wouldn't say that. If we imagine that Eric would ever be interrogated by the Seekers of Truth and asked him about immortality, then he would be able to agree with them if he chose “Slow Aging” or he would be declassified in the case of “Ageless”. So, as we can see, Eric only has three options to choose from. Eric's Know Time of 90 would potentially save his life several thousand times over the course of his life - and allow him to become incredibly successful in any endeavor while avoiding any dangerous situations. With the Know Time ability, I imagine Eric as an old man who, at 80 years old, has survived countless dangerous situations in dungeons, against incredible monsters, and simply as one of the most skilled fighters in the entire world. But “Slow Aging” and “Ageless” cannot be dismissed because of their incredible attractiveness. I think that the vast majority of people would choose one of these two forms of "immortality" if we were in Eric's place because it opens up hundreds of years for you to practice and study the world. But there’s a problem with this: no one is able to give a guarantee that they won’t try to commit an assassination attempt on Eric and that he won’t be killed in the end when he’s not even 40 years old.

Ageless seems like what anyone would take, if given the option. It also lets the story last longer and creates a lot of potential plot hooks or political dangers. It would make the elven romance that readers favor become more viable. :) Also, once the story ever ended, it could end with a more epic achievement/aftermath.

seize momentum for fun or ageless that way gives you more time to write a longer story =P

Tazz D Sichmeller

one thing to remember is if he ever is able to learn spells he can cast that. but the ageless and slow aging need to be spell forms so they are always active

Seize momentum sounds very badass

Perception/reaction haste aka Entering Bullet-time.

Prinny Knight

Haste and Slow were already proposed. How about a variation of that. MC does not move faster (Haste), nor others move slower (Slow), BUT, MC can enter a state, when his mind (and mind ONLY), moves ... at 10x / 100x speed (whatever). The idea is this. Physically, he is not moving faster; physically, his enemies are not moving slower; but, his mind is moving faster, so he can actually plan things and react to things; so, in say ~5 seconds, he lived ~5 minutes. So, it is not quite Stop Time. Just Accelerate Time.

Alexander Belousov

Hmm for something so big it does have to be something powerful, an interesting idea is to have it be more support focused, less immediately useful but also more hidden and scalable. How about something we would all be familiar with and would become exponentially more powerful the longer he’s around. Fast Travel: Allows user to revert back to specifically marked locations that they have already been to. marked locations must be set 25 miles apart, can only bring 3x their body weight in extra weight (this of course not taking into account dimensional storage)

I'll make a list in order of what makes the most sense to me. 1. Slow aging or Ageless: Who doesn't want to live longer? Also it doesn't seem that these can always be active if you cast them as spells. I think if a spell form doesn't work as a spell then that's the best possible reason to pick that spell form. 2. Hasten self: Very useful in combat. I would imagine this would kick ass with his high affinity. Relatively low cost which is good for MC. 3. Seize momentum: Very useful in combat. I think this would be the most useful one right now. It's low cost and can be used discreetly. I think Hasten self and Slow bubble will be better when he has higher stats but right now this is way better in my opinion. 4. Slow bubble: Very similar to Hasten self. I would imagine the cost would be very high so not so great right now. If I understood correctly the MC would probably get more speed from Hasten self. In some combat situation slowing everything around you would be incredible eg. when fighting multiple enemies. I don't like any of the other ones you listed. I don't feel like coming up with other spell forms right now.

What about: "X marks the spot" You can place a mark that will last 10 minutes / 10 hours? After the duration, you are reverted back to this spot in time, place, etc. but your physical state and so on are the same. Ie, if you die, you are dead, wounded you are wounded, but anything you are holding from the future comes with you also.
