„It is eighty miles to Caranhagan.“ (Chapter 60) I find the marching performance of the legionnaires extremely impressive, almost unbelievable. 80 miles is equal to about 129 kilometers! „We were going to do 80 miles in heavy boots with over sixty pounds of armor and gear!”   „It was nearly dark when a mounted unit came from the mostly dismantled army camp.“ (Chapter 60) „The last mile of the road ... It was late evening, but there was still plenty of light.“ A forced march of 80 miles in less than 24 hours. Wow! “This is going to be a miserable night march. Just before the sun reached its midday zenith, we were called to halt again.  Not even Konstantin looked great after fifty miles of forced marching. “Who is willing to jog thirty miles to the city?  My best guess is you need to make it in about five hours to catch the portal opening?” The five of us left our packs to lighten our load. It was a light run, and maybe we were making ten-minute miles. For the military, in times of peace, the daily march was calculated at 22.5 km for all troops, with a rest day on the 3rd or 4th day. The highest performance at the best time of year, good weather and an undiminished night's sleep was assumed for the cavalry at 80 km and for the infantry at 50 km, without this performance being able to be repeated in succession. A forced march (german: Gewaltmarsch) is a high-speed military march with no or almost no rest periods. (Wikipedia) Admittedly, the legionnaires who have been with Castile for a long time are strengthened in some attributes (essence for loyalty program). But Eryk is only there for a short time. Nevertheless he has the smallest problems on the march. Does this make him noticeable to the others, again?
