A postcard calendar, then! \o/

That's really, really cool! Just so you know what the calendar will look like, here's the 2016 one I had made four years ago. :)

There's so much great new art since the last calendar - what was it, for 2017? I don't think I even had one made for 2018, right? It's going to be hard to choose which pieces make it in. I may need your help with that. ;)

For those who voted for another pin - that will happen anyway. I will have to be careful with more recognisable merch after all, though - a friend of mine was just flagged by the company who owns the rights to Tolkien films, with a C&D for a hobbit hole pin she was doing (they seem to be trawling Etsy in search of certain tags at the moment.) I still hope I'm fine, as they're focusing heavily on anything LOTR and Hobbit-related, and all our fave Sil characters are non-problematic. Another reason to hope the Silmarillion won't be made into a film. O_o

Talking of the Sil! I had a fun idea at last weekend's con - I'm going to do a Silmarillion cheat sheet. Something that has all the important characters on it, with their names and an image, and that you can print out and put into the book as you read. I did that with the Harry Potter books when I read them to my kids, and it might be a huge help in making the Sil more widely known, haha!

One word on last week's Etsy orders: They have all been shipped now (almost sixty of them!), and I'll ask you to check carefully whether your packages contain everything they should. I was being very thorough, checking most of them at least once, especially the ones packed by the kids, but I'm very mistake-prone at the moment, especially if reading is involved. If any of you got anything other than you bought, let me know, and I'll rectify my mistakes without a fuss. (There haven't been any until now, but still.)

And - if anyone has any photos of the pins, please feel free to share them! <3

I'd love the idea of a Silmarillion cheat sheet! I'd print it for my office wall just to look at it all the time. By the way, I would like The Silm to be turned into a TV show... as long as I get to adapt it. Oh, dreaming on...

Laura Michel

Yes, it's them. Just ask Jenny for an etsy custom print of "The two Captains". ;)

My mm did that too! We had taken one map out of the book (the German books had huge foldout maps in the back) and put it on the wall. It gave her the idea to use the Lord of the Rings at school (she was a primary school teacher) when she taught about maps.

My mum made me a cheat-sheet for Lord of the Rings when I first read it, along with a photocopied Middle-earth map she'd annotated over, about where they all went and who went where. It was invaluable to me as a kid! I think a cheat-sheet will be such a great idea! I've come to picture the Silm characters as the way you depict them anyway, so this will add more to that :)

A cheat sheet is a brilliant idea! I love the Sil and have read it multiple times and I *still* get mixed up or forget who's related to whom, etc.

Pins arrived yesterday. Almost had a heart attack when it took the guy at the post office ages to unearth the parcel, but luckily (and a good thing for him) he found it. They are so so beautiful, I can't stop looking at them. ("My preciouses." ;-)) I'm looking forward to the calendar, and the cheatsheet would be a fantastic idea.

Ohhh I will love getting this! And I would *definitely* love a cheatsheet, especially if it includes some of the multiple names aiighghgh so many! ;)

Ashfae

The cheat sheet sounds like it would make a great poster, too! And yay, I love the post card calendar idea!

Lyra

I know someone that a Silmarillion cheat sheet would be a perfect gift for. Another post card calendar sounds like a great idea too. I pulled the one you posted apart and have them pinned to the inside of my desk at work.

I am so happy! The calendar will be awesome, and the pins are on the way! I also love the idea of the cheatsheet. I often show your illustrations to my friends as a Sil-guide, so your sheatsheet is a must for me.

Is that Beleg and Turin??? :O I am a huge fan of that story! Do you sell prints of that? Or any other art from The Children of Hurin? xD

Amy Covel

The pins have already arrived safely and I absolutely love them! :D
