This one just sent my daughter into unintelligible transports of delight, haha. No nerdy talk from her this time.
This is the Team Jenny pin, so to speak. My favourite animal with, of course, a paintbrush in her beak!
I've always liked kingfishers, and I saw one once. I'd cycled out to the canal in the marshes, with the Lord of the Rings and a bottle of water, to sit and read. As I sat, I heard a splash and saw this glittering orange and turquoise jewel fly away. I couldn't believe my eyes then.
Then last year, I bought a patch of a bird to sew on clothes, because it reminded me of one I had had as a baby (and my brother had had it too). It was of a bee-eater, of the same family as the kingfisher. The one I got was a kingfisher after all, and I read up on its mythology. It was just after my brother had died, and when I read about the bird's mythological ties to strength and comfort through loss, and its connection to the sea. I decided that it summed me up wonderfully in this phase of my life.
The poll for the next pins is coming up - and then, I swear, something on paper! ;)
