Added 2018-03-03 15:59:09 +0000 UTCNo, I didn't give up on this - it went dormant three weeks ago when a deskful of exams arrived, and then continued to lie dormant when my eye started to act up. Finishing this did require an eyepatch and a magnifying glass and a lot of patience, but it did work, which is a bit of a relief.

Even if this condition doesn't stick, I'll probably get myself one - I've tried several different sorts of magnifying glasses, also the ones you can clip on your glasses, but they haven't really worked for me as you still have to crouch so close to the paper, to which my back objects.
