"Sweeping" painting idea needed!

Hey my lovelies! You'll remember that I'm entering Rebecca Leveille-Guay's class this autumn, and as a first assignment, I need to do ten thumbnails for a painting idea that I'll do as course work with her. I've been wracking my brains for an idea - but maybe you have one too?

I'd like to go with something non-fandom. Mythological would be great, and I want a lot of movement to it, so anything inherently sweeping would be cool, but I suppose I can make most things sweeping. ;)

Any thoughts?

I read something about a type of Irish fairie (called a Puka??) that can transform back and forth from human form to a horse. That could look pretty dramatic?

Rowana

Nordish mythology perhaps? Odin with Hugin and Munin? Loki and the Fenriswolf? The three nornes would also be somehting with lots of movement. :)

Brit Kreher

:P mythology... sweeping.. Phoenix?

I'm going to pick several from these, actually, some in combination! I lovelovelove the Wild Hunt. Especially since we live right under a wild geese corridor and their honking in the evenings and early mornings is truly otherworldly. I hope to do that one as my opus magnum during the course! The first assignment will be something simpler - and for that, it'll be Loki! Possibly with Freya's cloak of feathers.

It will be no surprise that I much favour any Old Norse mythology ideas :-) - Dvalinn and Durin at the forge, smithing Tyrfing

Troels Forchhammer

I'd like to go with something I'm familiar with for now, but please suggest one! Maybe for later?

Wowowow, what great ideas! Let me think about them!

How about something to do with the Wild Hunt? It turns up in European and British folklore, has various participants depending upon what stories you use, and could involve as many and as few gods, monsters, and beings galloping across the sky or the land. And you could throw wild geese at Autumn in too, as some say hearing wild geese at night is what started the legend at the beginning.

Freyalyn

While I love the idea of Thor dressing as Freya (as I recall he was practically married off?) I'm quite partial to Greek mythology. Orpheus' myth has a nice amount of adventure and angst to it.

Would you like me to suggest a scene from Indian mythos? :D

Juhi Mendiratta

Something from Bellerophon's myth.
