Quick Necron OSL Scheme

2024-11-14 01:48:25 +0000 UTCblue doesnt have great fluo availability - I have been using Ducat Blue by AK as the main color for blue OSl, pairing it with darker colors (deep Blue, eg.) for the innitial glow and then adding white for the brightness.

2024-04-29 11:13:17 +0000 UTChi, sorry for the late reply - personally I would probably try to add a material that will look different from the metal, but can still be rendered very dark - so maybe if youw ant to go with stone, make the edges and highlights read stone grey and making the shades very dark. You can of course make these parts some kind of color, but anything neutral/grey/dark will help with the effect!

I'd be very much interested in seeing this scheme on other necrons if you'd be able. Question how might one differentiate duffrent materials on some of the models ( stone from the silent king, or the diffrent cloaks on some of the lords) while keeping the super dark osl contrast?

I love that this may be the point with this scheme, to keep it light and fast. But was wondering on your thoughts to maybe differentiate some parts a bit more

2024-04-07 02:19:10 +0000 UTCyeah any dark grey works. The Vallejo Green Fluo is thick, yes. For some reason that's why it works so good with a brush for me. It's not ultra matte on my mini, but also not super glossy. I don't thin it, only a brush that has been cleaned in water/dipped in water and then wiped on a towel.

2024-04-05 12:21:14 +0000 UTCPerfect, I tried charcoal and black/charcoal mix, seems like it’s not a huge world of difference so I might as well go with pure charcoal going forward to avoid wasting time mixing paints. Question about Fluorescent paint: do you thin it at all? Mine is mega thick straight from the dropper and dried ultra glossy, even after thinning.

2024-04-03 20:32:34 +0000 UTCThe idea behind it was to have a crisp and dark chest contrast against the bright glow from within. So I needed to be able to clean up all the green spill with the base grey (you can see me do it starting at 6:28). You can go for a halo effect and I did that on my flayed one on youtube, with the orange OSL - but here I wanted to try something different. And obviously the cleanup is easier as long as it is just one color and without having to match the effect the wash on top of the grey would create.
