Ant queen spoted in the wild.
Added 2025-06-25 19:39:30 +0000 UTCFor the people in Europe (Region Belgium, Netherlands,...) there are a lot of black garden ant queens on the move. I saw hundreds of them looking for a place to start a colony. If you want your own colony now is the time. Find a queen like this without wings and give her a nice testtube. In a few months you will have your own colony !

I'm gonna try the small 'deli cup' method. I'll check for test tubes in my attic tomorrow, but I'm not sure I have more than 2 (yes, I have Petri dishes but lack in tubes π)... I understand deli cups should also work if you take care of the moisture.
