solution (not real-time) is to make basically the same thing in the compositor; that way the information is already baked in so we can pixelate it. as for real-time I'm stuck too XD

Really cool! I hope the community can solve the artifacts that occur when the dot size is too big. I can picture the solution in my head (pixelating the color input from the shader with pixel sizes that match the dot grid), but I couldn't figure out how to make the nodes do what I'm picturing.
