April 2022 Update.

Hello! Finally here with the update post! I hope you guys have been doing well, May has started kinda mean to me hitting me with headaches and a stomach bug OTL, but everything's good now!

On April I advanced with the animation course, and now I know how to make viewport renders too, so I can start sharing what I do animationwise, but also I can start sharing better "screenshots" of my progress on the Tekki 3D model!

I've finished the bouncing ball exercises, I would like to try making a few more, like in different "obstacle courses", but I think I'll move on for now and keep in mind to come back to these eventually [I also want to make one of those where the ball is alive and it jumps around on it's own.. those seem fun]

But anyway here's a link to the animation exercises, super basic but hey, it's a start!:

I really liked trying to make the last bit where the ball rolls and then bounces off the wall to a stop at the end but I don't think I quite got it, the rotation looks a bit off on all, I think the best looking one is the one with the heavy ball.

----

I also ended up tinkering a bit more with the 3d Model, I modified the hips and crotch area of the sculpt a bit, and I also kind of... re-did the retopology again OTL. I kinda miss that the retopology I showed you guys on March was way less dense, BUT I'm honestly satisfied with the current topology and I'm leaving it like that and moving forward! [Finally]

I wanted to work with a bit of color so I painted the body a little, it's not the final colors, just a little something since the last time I tried to make this model it was a bit dull just seeing a grey model.

[Oh also I'm really happy I finally found out how to make sharp edges work! You can see I've been having quite a bit of fun with that haha;;; I might tone it down in a few areas, I'm still experimenting.]

Now I've moved onto the hair, I'm making adjustments here and there to make sure I like the shapes at the front and that the whole silhouette formed by the hair at the back works from multiple angles. I'm also deciding on the design of the hairband, I had a few ideas and I'm trying to see what works best.

After the hair I'll work on the inside of the mouth and... I think I'll be ready for Rigging..??
I still want to keep the texture painting towards the end, since it will be handpainted, if during the rigging process I find I need to make changes to the topology, at least I won't have to worry about messing up the UV Maps & Textures.

Sorry It took me until the second week of the month to finally post the update! I wanted to make sure the topology was finally ready. I hope you guys enjoy the update and the new pics! I'm adding a zip file that has a few more pics of the Tekki 3D model, and I'll talk a bit more about the drawings from April on the compilation post!

Thank you so much for your continued support! I hope you guys have been doing well!

Aaa thank you! Yeah I'm completely back to normal now! It was mostly the first two weeks! It was done with keyframes, yep! The question was perfect I knew right away what you meant! OTL I'm very happy that you'd even consider it could've been done with like physics/simulations! Those types of animations still intimidate me, from what I understand they seem to require a very capable computer to run. I really hope to look into it eventually! In these I did the keyframes at the highest point of the bounce and the contact with the ground and wall, Then the squash & stretch, and after that it was just a matter of adjusting the timing of how long it took to do each bounce and playing with the graph editor. I'm not sure how to explain about the graph editor;;; I'm still trying to understand it, But I found this video that gives a pretty good idea of what playing with it looks like, from 5:50 to 8:28= https://youtu.be/bRM0VYSVeQM?t=350 Hahha;; Yeahh honestly the changes tend to be pretty subtle! Perhaps I could add at least one "Before/After" pic so the changes are easy to see right away witouth having to dig for previous pics? ;v; Thank you so much as well for the very kind messages and also it makes me happy to know you're interested in the process!! I really like replying if there's any questions, and digging for examples to show is really cool as well because I end up discovering new things! [Like trying to find a good video for the graph editor led me to checking others that showed things I didn't know you know do in Blender!]

I'm sorry about the headaches and feeling under the weather, I hope you feel tip top soon! With those ball animations, did you do...uh...like...is that animated as in you're doing all the frames? Just keyframes? Or...setting up the models/physics/etc. and letting it ride? I'm sorry, that's probably asking in a really dumb way, but I'm not sure how to phrase it. >_>;; Love to see the progress on the 3D model, it's always interesting to see what you've changed. Honestly, I have to keep pulling up the old ones to compare and contrast, because I feel like my brain will just nod along to what you're saying without understanding it all if I don't. But! That means I can actually see things more easily, so...I guess it's a draw. XD As always, thank you so much for sharing the WIPs and sketches and work with us. ^_^
