Some questions

There's some things I was wondering about regarding file types and organization, and I'd love to hear some feedback:

1) Which would you prefer? keep files JPG or change to PNG?
I usually just save pics as JPG for storage, because it's mostly sketches and because files  tend to be big anyway. And only save as PNG when it's a commission and the final drawings.
Do you have a preference for this? Prefer mostly PNG or mostly as it currently is JPG?

2) Post as content is done vs End of the Month ZIP?
Would you rather have individual posts as drawings and sketches are made directly on Patreon? [With maybe new posts later if they are further refined?] or a ZIP file with all the content made that month ready for download, toward the last week of the month?

3) Progress: Sequence pics vs GIFs.
If I can show the evolving of a drawing, would you rather see sequence pics that you can freely scroll through? Or a Gif file that shows the progress? [I personally find sequence pics better because they retain the quality and you can stop in a specific one for as long as you wish, but it might also take too much space?]

4) Images only vs PSD file.
Are you happy with just the pics or would you like to see the files too?
I work almost exclusively on SAI, and occasionally I use Clip Studio Paint.
I think I would just save a copy of the file as PSD and make THAT available, since t's a filetype easy to open on maaany programs. BUT the problem is that most effect layers wouldn't work.
Another thing is that my files tend to be a bit messy, with lots of layers that I seldom name. I would try to clean them up a bit if there was interest for them though! so they are a bit easier to navigate.

5) Updates directly on Patreon! Or Twitter? Or Discord?

And finally. There's times where I'll post stuff outside Patreon.
For example I'm slowly getting my Furaffinity gallery up to date. I'm posting content in small batches and in order of when I made it. Last update [Sept 09!] was for stuff made in May!

And I'm also currently working on a website to keep information organized and easy to access, like my characters! But I'd also like to make use of the Blog feature and make longer posts there!

And I'd like to ask if you'd be interested in being kept updated when I make new posts on these different sites, and also where and how frequently.

I'm thinking I could make posts here on Patreon, either as an update happens or a weekly, or a summary towards the end of the month of everything that happened.

This could also be done through Twitter since I believe it's easier that most of you guys will have an account. Here the updates would probably have to be made as they happen.

The final place for updates that I reeeally like the idea of is Discord!
I really like this because I could make all the updates! And then there can be roles that you opt in depending on how often you'd like notifications. So if you'd like to be notified once a month, I'll ping the "monthly" role once with a summary. Same for weekly! Or if you'd like to just see the updates on your own time you can also head to the channel and read on your own! The downside is that, since the server would be only for updates, it would be kind of a "dead" server. And I don't know how appealing it would be to join such a server or if it would serve it's purpose as a place to send updates, since it might not be frequented much.

Comments

Sorry It took so long, I wanted to reply! I appreciate you going into more detail about the chosen options!! I really agree as well and based on the results I'd say it is also the popular opinion! haha Thank you so much for the info about Discord btw!! I'll definitely make a server! I'm starting to build it but I gotta do a bit more research! I'll probably show a preview of what it looks like/the channels and categories and a bit of feedback from you guys first!

1) I voted for JPGs, but primarily for sketches to reduce space. I still think commissions and anything more than sketches or line art would be better in PNG. 2) End of month ZIP to reduce post clutter on Patreon. Posting individually seems like it would be better on Discord or Twitter. 3) Sequence, both for quality and I like to take my time looking at individual images 4) Image, I don't have a program that uses PSD extension to my knowledge 5) I voted Discord, since you can always just create separate channels just for updates and have a channel for discussions. I like frequent Patreon updates, but I'm okay with a monthly update on Patreon and regular updates on Discord (you can also create channels which require permission to view if you want to have a separate one for patrons). Plus, Discord is fairly easy to moderate. I'm not sure how user-friendly Patreon is on moderation
