Patreon's format really sucks in a lot of ways. Like that problem that if I try to make a new paragraph the comment gets posted before I could finish or reread over it...

He's literally working on the rest of the sound design right now (and plans to all night) - because he's tired of not having it out yet. Whether you choose to support him or not through his growing pains - because he is still very new to the whole patreon scene and the like - is your choice, but to say that he'd never release the animation is a bit silly. Again, nothing wrong if you choose to not support him and I don't blame you regardless. But I do want to note that, Cake's integrity, both before Patreon and after (e.g. with "The Apartment"), has me convinced that he attempts to hold himself to a high standard and would never just let a project so close to completion die simply because he didn't want to do the sound design himself. The animation will come out, it's just a matter of time.

I'm sorry that he hasn't been able to complete his portion of the work yet, causing the animation to be delayed much longer than anticipated. I'm not upset about the many delays nor do I blame you for them. Your animations are amazing, and as long as I can see it when it's finished, I'm happy.

Update: I'm aware that I can't expect people to be patient any longer, and since I haven't got a message from Monsterchow yet, I've requested him to send me the work in progress sound design version he's been working on. My plan is to finalize the sound design in an all nighter myself today, so I'll be able to hopefully post the animation tomorrow evening. Here's hoping I'll have the unfinished version from Monsterchow in a few hours at least, I'll keep you updated!

Admirable as it may be, missing deadlines with vague assurances of completion is sorely disappointing, especially with the strong foundation of followers he's got. In this case the failure lies in outsourced labor - which I am sure will be remedied in any future endeavors.

I agree. Cake's willingness to wait until something is the best it can be is a rare trait among artist and entertainment industries these days. Many of them push things out the door too soon so the quality isn't always the best. Glad that people like Cake still want to make good art and also ensure it's quality is something that isn't a let down. Thank you Cake for doing the right thing instead of rushing it. I personally appreciate that sort of artistic moral. It's very admirable.

The original intention of this workflow was to get the sound design done while I'm doing the post production, which usually takes 1 - 2 weeks. This actually worked really well last time. By the time I finalized the post, the sound design was ready as well and it saved a full week of time. However, this time it's the direct opposite, with the sound design process taking way longer that usual. .o.;

By the way, I just noticed that your $100 tier reads near the end "The next one will play inside Zoe's room, which offers a lot of opportunities to place various objects" I'm almost certain this is left over from before the previous animation you made. Or were you already planning the next (presumably much shorter) animation to be in the apartment again?

Been exchanging some notes with Monsterchow who showed me a work in progress on the sound design, which by now seems about 80% completed. While the progress is solid I've sadly been told that it won't be finalized this weekend. I have to admit that at this point I considered doing it myself, but even if I started now I wouldn't get it done before MonsterChow. It's a tough situation since I know my patrons are waiting, I'll try to at least put out two more playblasts this weekend and make them available for all patrons this time. Hopefully it won't be too much longer from here. I furthermore apologize still making everyone wait. Running this is still a learning experience for me, especially in terms of distributing my resources. Having gone from zero to sixty (or rather, 3000) in just a few months still has me staggering a bit in terms of communication work. Furthermore I probably won't outsource the sound design anymore and take things back into my own hands for future work. This way I can at least give better estimations and have better conscience regarding my posting schedule.
