Our Patron DigitalRuler suggested this pattern, and as so often there's more to it than first meets the ear.
The sounds are 808-ish, but there's a twist to the Hi-Hats: The Closed Hi-Hat sound is used twice - once pitched down and panned to the right and once pitched up and panned to the left. That allows for an additional rhythmic component and gives depth to the sound.
Parts 1-3 are the main patterns, but pay attention to how the variations leave out entire sections to accentuate specific parts of the lyrics.
I really like the stuttering effect that the 2B + 3D + 2C combo creates!
