Update 2023/07/03: Corrected part 16 not being in triplets, adjusted difficulty rating
This is my drum pattern transcription in the style of "Led Zeppelin - When The Levee Breaks".
Aphex Twin, Massive Attack, The Chemical Brothers, Beastie Boys, Eminem, Mike Oldfield, Dr. Dre, BjΓΆrk, The Simple Minds, Garbage, Anthrax, Billy Idol, Vanilla Ice, Public Enemy, Yoko Kanno - just to name few.
Apparently this is the second most "borrowed" drum loop after the "Amen Break". No surprise really, it's a massive beat with an incredible sound and it sits there completely isolated at the beginning of the song.
And there's a lot to learn from it: The way a human drummer uses accents and ghost notes (the very faint hits on the snare in parts 4 and 6), the fact that a drummer can only hit so many things at once, the construction of tom fills around the snare, the pulsating rapid fire kick drums. And of course surprise triplets in parts 15 and 16.
I've been working on this one for a while now so it's quite detailed - the next transcriptions will probably be more snack sized π
