The musical genius that is Stevie Wonder! I walked right into a trap there, believing that these were only a handful of patterns. Being an excellent drummer himself, Stevie also programmed the Linn LM-1 on this track - and he put more variations in there than most drum machines can even handle in song mode. 17 pages of transcribed patterns... Patterns 1 and 2 (and their respective variations) usually alternate, with 2 being the concluding pattern with a more pronounced fill or ending.

This is our first encounter with a triplet pattern on the channel, a few episodes ahead of "Drum Machine 101: Triplets" 🐇 I have introduced two new visual aids in this transcription: As mentioned in our new video about the TT-78/TT-606, hardly any drum machine offers 12 steps per page of triplets, most often you still have to program everything in 16 steps. To make this easier but still readable, I gave the triplet bars an alternating background color and the separators are now placed after every sixth step. A small dot indicates where Stevie Wonder made changes compared to the base pattern - I hope this helps you with programming as well as analizing the variations he decided to implement.
