[1.19] Slowed down by a tricky scene [147/248]

Hi guys! This episode has one major set piece sex scene. It’s a new scenario for Kate, and a big, big step towards becoming a bargirl, so it’s very important to get it right.

I was pleased with the basic structure of the scene – it’s so fucking hot 🥵 – but the execution needed some reworking.

So that’s what I’ve been doing: taking a fresh pass and really challenging myself to write something that’s sexy, but in a way that feels real.

I was hoping this would just kind of fly together, but in the end it took lots of writing and rewriting to make the pacing feel right, the characters feel believable, and the descriptions of the action feel vivid and sexy.

The result was that just a few storyboard slides ended up taking a lot of time and work to implement.

Not everything goes smoothly!  But the scene's nearly done, and it's way hotter than it was on the storyboard. 🔥 I'll finish it this week, and move onto the rest of the episode, which will go faster because it's more straightforward.

I'll do as much as I can, and report progress next week.

Comments

This is an astute comment because the scene in question actually is something that's been set up by the club. That's not the kind of scriptedness I meant, though: more that the characters *within the constraints of the setup* weren't behaving realistically. Spoiler free example: it's like the wet t-shirt contest in version 1.6. Originally we had a more detailed part where the girls each confessed a sexual fantasy on stage. In theory it was very hot, but in reality it came out feeling artificial and scripted – there's *no way* the club would rely on these random drunk girls to be charismatic enough to hold the crowd. So I delayed it, and rewrote the scene with tighter stage management of the girls. I think it came out way hotter because it felt believable all the way through. Kind of same same with this scene

If writing a scene makes you think it sounds like its scripted, why not make that a part of the scene? Why wouldn't they set up scripted situations for the new girl?
