The Laboratory is a key part in the story and game, this is the starting area of the game, which is located inside an underground bunker.
After a nuclear war, most of the people around the world have died and the planet has become a radiated unhabitable zone. Few of those people had the chance to take refuge in bunkers, and most of these bunkers ran out of resources. We want to give the players a game start, but it's up to them to choose their endings, which will depend on their choices, whether good or bad.

You might be wondering.. if the start of the game takes place in such a setting, how do we get into the backrooms? Where is the action? We'll get to that part soon as well ^^
We plan to explain the general story of the game through weekly patreon posts and updates, but also keep some things hidden, until you guys get to experience the whole game. That being said, we'll also keep you updated and show where our weekly work goes, which is funded with your help!🤍

Note: Those are just the first iterations of the environments, so there might be small details we still need to put our attention into in order to improve the environment.
In previous versions of Infinitum, we used some assets for the entities, those assets were paid but not fully original, but at the time we didn't have funding to do any better. This has now changed and we want each entity to feel special in its own way, we don't want to make the creatures feel randomly spawned and "scary", but rather have them create real tension for the players and feel real like they are actually alive and part of the backrooms world we are trying to create.
That's why you will be able to see new entities in the upcoming updates, each with a new mechanic!

This is the concept art for "The Scratcher—an agile creature with no eyes. You'll need to stay silent to survive its presence.🤫 We’re working on its model now and hope to show it off in next week’s update, if not, then it will appear in the weekly update in 2 weeks!
Since we have the first iteration of the lab environment, we can now start working on the intro cutscenes, here is a small animation we are currently working with and we plan to implement it inside of the intro part of the Story:

The crafting and building systems for the bunker felt a bit "out of place" and disconnected from the game's core experience. That’s why we’ve taken the time to completely redesign and integrate them more seamlessly into the main game loop! 🔄
We’ve now reimagined how crafting and building will work to enhance the immersion and tie these mechanics directly to your survival and progression. The system remake for crafting is nearly complete! While we could show you bits and pieces, we’ve decided to hold off until the end of February to showcase the whole gameplay experience with these systems fully implemented. Trust us—it’ll be worth the wait!
In addition to crafting and building, we’re also hard at work on several other features we’ll share in the coming weeks. Here’s a quick glimpse at what’s cooking behind the scenes:
