Sprint 005, day 5

Sorry I missed yesterday's report, I worked right up to the moment I had to go out.

Backlog review
I started today by decamping to a local coffee shop – like a fucking hipster – to review the Big Fucking List.  I found that getting away from my normal working environment sparked my creativity – I was able to capture and get down a variety of thoughts about mechanics, scenes, Bangkok, avatar improvements and side quests that have been buzzing around my head for the past few weeks.  It felt great to be thinking about the project from a more strategic perspective.

I kept the session quite short, because I think new disciplines stick better if they're kept short and manageable.  Today I captured 22 things to add to the list; in the next review, I'll try reörganising the list.  Over time I hope that this discipline will lead to sharper direction and clearer comms with the fan base.

Sprint tasks
For the rest of the day, I worked more on section 2 of the Mk II sex scene prototype.  I'm finding this kind of slow going, because I'm just not that happy with my writing at the moment; I can't seem to nail the right tone for some reason.

Hopefully this is just a temporary problem that I'll fight through in the next few days.

R&R day
Tomorrow is a planned R&R day.  I'm going to catch up on some life admin, but also catch up on the massive comms backlog I built up over the past few weeks – sincere apologies to everybody who's waiting for a reply here, on Discord, on email, in DMs, on forums, etc.  I'll set aside a few hours tomorrow and get caught up with as much as I can.

Next sprint day is Monday.  Have a great weekend, everybody, and I'll post an update in two days!

Comments

There is no way any work would be perfect, even in real life situation. You do what you can in the time frame available. Look at what is happening to starcitizen. Is that what you call creating a perfect game? Do it and move on to the next, come back to improve later if you can. Otherwise it’s not going anywhere

I love this game but lately, there seem to be more updates on sprinting for new content and nothing to actually show for it. I will be unsubscribing for a while.

Just keep on writing, no matter what you think of the quality. That's better left to the editing process (and our input), I think. So don't keep mulling over every word because you'll always find some real or imagined imperfection in your work when you're writing.
