Sprint 004, day 6
Added 2019-12-03 18:44:53 +0000 UTC
A consultant advised us to trying working in two-week development "sprints". This is our first attempt!
Today we finished another sprint task, and added ENF* avatar poses into the game! They'll be used in the prototype, and of course can be used in other scenes.
As always, implementing this little feature was more of a pain in the ass than I anticipated. We ended up having to create 114 new avatar art files, and figuring out exactly how to layer the poses proved tricky, but I think it looks great now.
Writing the wireframe is going well. I'll keep going on the next sprint day, which is of course tomorrow. See you then!

* Embarrassed Nude Female...as you well know
I imagine there might be scenarios where the Agent might want to act embarrassed or shy, as well, or this could be a choice to evoke a response out of an NPC that fantasizes about a woman who is powerless or simply embarrassed.

It seems like there's two kinds o 3D approaches: story-heavy pre-rendered DAZ scenes that end up with the same workload, since every pose with every outfit combination must be pre-made, or there's a very detailed realtime 3D game that's merely a sex (animation) "simulator" without any sort of story. The 2D puppet animations like Insexcity don't seem to work out as well aesthetically as your static, posed figures, but at least the creators only have to make a few static sprites that can be animated into any pose.
If anything, I would rather see you complete the story/gameplay structure of this game before going any further with the graphics. I believe the pseudo-procedural + RPG engine that you have going makes your game much more interesting than the standard RenPy + DAZ, scripted grindfests or even anything with "amazing" graphics. I imagine that one day you might be able to make the game even more rogue-like by generating different long-term assignments (rather than being always headed towards the Thailand assignment), and at that point, the graphics might be secondary.

In the prototype scene, there's a path where the agent can be surprised by somebody else walking in on her naked. In that instance it's presented as a player decision; all agents can cover themselves up, Exhibitionists or agents who make a Confidence roll can just gaze back coolly.
In general I think we'll tend to present this as a player decision most of the time, only deploying it automatically when pacing demands it.

That's an interesting idea. It would require *another* total avatar overhaul, so it's unlikely to be something there's an appetite for any time soon, but I can see the benefits in terms of overall production speed. Maybe that's something to consider for the sequel. :-)

Hell yeah :-)

I'm curious when the ENF poses will and won't be used; presumably high corruption agents won't be embarrassed by being seen naked, but what about low corruption, but tough, no-nonsense agents? I'd think they would not care about being seen nude either.

With all the workload associated with 2D art assets, are you thinking about how much easier it would be to generate the same art, in the same style, by doing the character models in 3D? Is that perhaps something for a later iteration of the game?

Nice, nicee! Glad to see the advice worked out so well for you! Keeping progress moving forward can also be a good motivator to keep on it. :)
