Thursday sprint report
Added 2019-04-11 19:15:55 +0000 UTC
Sprint target: release 1.5 (avatar upgrade)
Days worked: 19/31 | Pomodoros logged: 158
Task points completed: 100/248
Today, in prep for tackling the avatar makeup task, I recreated the work I lost recently when Illustrator crashed. I took the opportunity to correct some facial symmetry issues – just a few pixels (most notably moving the nose up slightly as suggested by Senaar), but the agents look prettier to me now!
Victoria has created the childhood versions of all the different facial features. They all look adorable. <3 She's working on avatar musculature now, which includes experimenting with the default shoulder width.
Next dev day is tomorrow, see you then!

*keeping in mind I know fuckall about creating game art assets, so how things seem to me is probably not worth much.

I feel like there’s various ways to address the challenge, but all of them require quite a lot of work to my mind. Personally, I’m very content with just expressions and it seems to me that the graphics changes could mostly be made later just about as easily as now*, so you could set that aside until you’ve seen how much overall work it will be just to do the primary features before circling back to attempt more variations on poses, hair colours, and so on.

I think that you can narrow down the amount of artwork by only having different poses during specific scenes. If you draw a stripperific pose for strip scenes you'd only need to draw unique artwork for clothes that would be used during strip shows, for example.

Yeah I hope so! This is actually already in one scene in the game – if your agent goes all the way through Operator Training, her hands get cuffed behind her back during the Resistance To Interrogation phase in Norway.
I definitely want to include more scenes like this. The challenge is the amount of artwork requirements we're generating. Bearing in mind that now each top has 6 bra sizes x 3 body shapes: every time we create a new top, we have to draw 18 unique versions. If we add (say) one new arm position, every top we add to the game requires 36 pieces of artwork to support it.
There are some ways to get around it: we could limit the clothes that are worn in the pose scenes, and we could just stop bitching and knuckle down and draw 36 versions of everything :-D I'm interested in doing it, but not exactly sure *how* to do it yet.

Great idea, I'll try and squeeze it in!

Will our avatar ever be shown in poses/doing stuff? It would be cool to see something a little more interesting than a T-pose, show off some body language depending on the current scene.

So, one thing I was wondering about looking at the Sprint Report that I hadn't noticed until now, why is it that having more control of your agents hair color is limited to rock chicks? I'd love to give my Blonde, Cheerleader, Alpha female the ability to have pink highlights.
