53: In a way, getting that one big breath was almost more cruel for Alicia than not getting it.
For a moment, she was once again keenly aware of the peril she was in, where before she might have just slid off into unconsciousness, blissfully unaware of what was happening around her. With her head now fully inside the snake's body, panic had set back in. The only parts of Alicia's body that were free to move were her legs from the knees-down.
The snake wasn't concerned though... Its dinner could kick all it wanted. There were no claws down there that could hurt it. It would only take a few seconds before its prey would tire itself back out again.
