Chapter 182 : Kara's Dream

« Chapter-181 | Index | Chapter-183 »

As the room buzzed with activity, leaders and representatives swarmed around Sora, each vying for his attention. Questions, proposals, and invitations filled the air as they sought to recruit him or gain his favor.

Kim Dong hovered protectively at Sora’s side. With the vigilance of a mother hen guarding its egg, he kept a wary eye on anyone who wanted to recruit his guild member. “Morgan! Watch your mouth. Ralph isn't joining your stinky guild,” Kim said, trying to stop the American player to poach Sora in front of him.

Meanwhile, Kara, sensing that Sora had more than enough company, quietly slipped away from the crowd. Her gaze landed on a familiar figure standing apart from the chaos: Sin Soo-Yun.

She approached them, "Sin Soo-Yun,” she began. “Can we talk?”

The information broker turned his masked face toward her, then looked at the crowd around them, “Shall we find a quieter spot?”

Kara followed Sin Soo-Yun to an empty meeting room.

Sin Soo-Yun asked, "How can I help you?"

“I want to create something... something that will help players understand the world and its new rules. A school.”

Sin Soo-Yun tilted his head slightly, intrigued. “A school? Like the player schools some guilds create to train recruits?”

“Yes,” Kara continued, her tone firm. “But also a training ground that isn’t just about getting stronger, but about becoming better people—stronger, kinder, and more generous.”

Sin Soo-Yun paused before asking, “What’s your goal here? Are you building your own force?”

Kara rolled her eyes at the question and shook her head. “Does everything need an ulterior motive? Can’t I just want to make a difference?”

The broker chuckled softly behind his mask. “Fair enough. What do you need from me?”

Kara scratched her ear, thinking. “Everything. I need a location to establish the school, people to build it, and my first students. Do you know anyone in need of help or places where I can find those who’d benefit most from this?”

Sin Soo-Yun leaned back in thought, then spoke. “You’ll need a vast area with diverse terrain, so the land needs to be sizable. I can connect you with land managers in France, or elsewhere, who could help. As for construction, you’ll require high-level job-type players—master masons, carpenters, gardeners, and farmers. Given your level and wealth, I assume you’ll want nothing but the best.”

Kara nodded, absorbing his words.

Sin Soo-Yun continued, soon listing potential needs. “The land will need specific enchantments for safety, mana optimization, and training. That means enchanters and architects who specialize in mana integration. You’ll also require a food supply chain if you want students to live on-site, which means a combination of local and system-provided resources… Unless you don't need students to eat, which would be understandable. The best option would be a partnership with a supplier.”

Five minutes passed, and Sin Soo-Yun was still talking.

Kara’s initial interest gradually disappeared as the details became more complex and technical. Her expression changed to one of polite confusion as she struggled to follow his explanations.

Noticing her look, Sin Soo-Yun sighed. “For ten million gold, I can handle everything from start to finish. The land, construction, enchantments, and recruitment—it’ll all be ready in a week.”

Kara, recalling how Sora's father, Henri, often said, “Leave it to the professionals” whenever he didn’t want to deal with something, smiled and nodded. “Fine. Let’s do that, then.”

----------------------------------------

Sora smiled when he noticed the beaming expression on Kara’s face.

“Why are you so happy? What happened?” he asked.

Kara shook her head playfully. “It’s a secret!” Then, as if struck by a sudden thought, she asked, “Do you want to stay in France, or should we move somewhere else?”

Sora blinked, taken aback by the question. “I’d actually prefer moving out of France. We can go anywhere…”

Kara’s smile widened. “Let’s go back to Korea, then. But since we’re helping your parents level up, we should ask them before moving.”

Sora nodded in agreement. “You’re thinking about our apartments in Seoul? The guild headquarters?”

“We don’t have to go there exactly,” Kara replied, “but I wouldn’t mind it. Anywhere in Korea works for me.”

Sora sighed, considering her suggestion. He was about to say something when a message from Kim Dong interrupted his thoughts.

“Kim’s inviting us to a restaurant,” he said, glancing up at Kara. “Want to come?”

Kara shook her head. “You have fun. I need to take care of something.”

----------------------------------------

Kara joined Sarsha in her [Time Space], her expression strange. “I need you to keep Ralph busy for a week.”

Sarsha raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile forming on her lips. “Oh? Sending your man off with another woman? That’s bold, Kara.”

Kara rolled her eyes, though a faint blush colored her cheeks. “It’s not like that. I need time to work on something important, and he'll get suspicious if he stays with me.”

Sarsha had a mischievous glint in her eye. “And what exactly am I supposed to do with him for a whole week?”

Kara smiled knowingly. “He promised you a sightseeing trip, didn’t he? Take him up on it. Keep him moving, distract him, and make sure he doesn’t start asking questions.”

Following Kara's request, Sora and Sarsha left France to travel the world. Over the week, they visited countries like Morocco and Argentina, explored the pyramids of Egypt, strolled through the streets of Kyoto.

----------------------------------------

A week later.

Sora followed Kara through a quiet stretch of countryside outside Seoul, his curiosity piqued.

Kara walked ahead, her pace slow and the same smile she had for a week on her face.

“You’re sure I can’t use my mental power ? What if we get ambushed?” Sora asked for what felt like the tenth time, his mental power itching to scan the surroundings.

Kara turned, her auburn hair catching the sunlight. “Before we had Mental Power, it didn't bother you to travel without knowing what was happening around us...” she teased.

"Just wait for a few more seconds. We're almost there! You'll love it."

Sora sighed, though he couldn’t help but smile. She had been unusually secretive all week, refusing to give him even the slightest hint about what she was doing while he was travelling with Sarsha.

He had played along and did not probe using his powers.

After another kilometer, they walked up a hill, and Kara stopped. She turned to Sora. “Close your eyes.”

“Kara—”

“Just do it,” she said, feigning anger.

He complied, reluctantly. Kara guided him forward a few more steps, her hands covering his eyes.

When she removed her hands and finally told him to open his eyes, he did so—and froze.

Stretching out before him was a gigantic complex unlike anything he had ever seen.

Its size was staggering, it was twenty kilometers long and wide of meticulously planned infrastructure and natural beauty.

“Is this our mansion?” Sora asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.

Kara rolled her eyes, “Are you serious? Do you know of any mansions this big? With towers, training grounds, and its own variety of ecosystems?”

She spread her arms wide and said, “Welcome to the academy!”

Taking a closer look, Sora could see various training grounds, a few buildings with various uses. Among them, he spotted an infirmary, a small hospital, a branch of the Adventurer’s Guild, a branch of the Auction Hall, and dozens of other specialized structures.

“Incredible…” he muttered, in awe. Turning to Kara, he asked, “You did all of this in a week?”

Kara scratched her cheek, her expression sheepish. “I had some help. A lot of help…”

She added, after a pause, "But it is not finished. We need one more thing."

Noticing the confusion on Sora's face, she explained, "It doesn't have a name yet."

Sora shook his head, "You know I'm not good at naming things..."

Kara laughed, "It doesn't matter! Pick something. I want you to complete what I've started."

"Prestige Academy?" He suggested.

Kara's smile froze, but she tried to remain nice, so she said, "Can you try again?"

"Heavenly Sect?"

"Again!"

"Nexus Academy?"

"Better, but it's offtopic!" She started getting annoyed.

"Tower of Gods?"

"What tower? What Gods? Are you messing with me?" Kara flared. "Forget it! I'll name it myself. It'll be named after your japanese name. From what I've read, it means sky. This school will be the 'Sky Academy.'"

Sora smiled, "So cliché."

Kara tried her best to not let Sora ruin her mood. She took his hand, and started dragging him toward the main building.

"Our first students are already here! Want to see them?" She quickly changed topics.

Looking in front of him, Sora saw a ten story building, with probably enough room for thirty simultaneous classes.

While he refrained from using his Mental Power, he could still hear some voices from inside.

"I have heard this voice in the past, but I don't remember where..." He asked. Hearing a second and third voice, he looked at Kara in puzzlement, "Who are they? And why do I feel like I know them?"
