Update/Preview 17 Jan 2021

Hello, all! So, this is an excerpt from the fantasy novel I’m working on. Not the isekai light novel. Basically, the characters stole cursed gold and are all starting to realise. And panic. And no, I couldn’t not call my protagonist ‘Morgan’. Nintendo plz dnt sue.

I had a lovely conversation with myself yesterday that basically went like this:

"I'm taking a break to work on original content in January!"

*Proceeds to write 1k words of the next self insert chapter in one half-hour sitting*

“Shit.”

So, yeah. Progress is slow. I’ve had self insert madness on the brain so long now it’s kinda turning out harder than I thought to put it aside. But! I shall endure. I want to get at least one chapter done by the end of the month. Preferably one of each the light novel and the novel-novel.

So, let’s talk a moment about the origins of my fantasy novel. I think I probably have in the past on a vlog, but I’ve been boring this week and need to fill space. Basically, I’m adapting the plot I had planned for the sequel I wanted to write for Future’s End. Seeing as I’ve clearly moved away from the ‘Invisible Ties Series’ in recent years, I decided to adapt the plot into an original piece. I added more traditional fantasy stuff, too, like other races and stuff, but I still intend for it to be a sort of love-letter to Fire Emblem with themes and familiar character archetypes and stuff. And some names. Because I am not a subtle man. But, the plot! Basically, a group of the kids of the great heroes of the last generation hit ‘nope!’ and run off, becoming tomb-raiding sky pirates (because fantasy airships are cool, okay?) that are out to avoid their stressful responsibilities for as long as they possibly can. And still end up getting sucked into world-saving quests, and complaining about it constantly. It’s been a lot of fun planning it, and writing what little of it I have done. I’m excited to do more with it.

So, IRL my life just got somewhat more interesting. There’s another cyclone coming right for us! It’s predicted to hit smack bang in the middle of my shift tomorrow, so either I’m getting the day off, or they’re giving me a mini vacation by putting me up in the hotel for the night! Gonna be an interesting day tomorrow, at the least. The first I heard of it was when I walked past the big ‘Cyclone Warning’ info board they put up in the lobby. I just kinda stopped, looked at it and went “I gotta start watching the news again...”

I’ve also been watching a lot of Tenchi anime lately. Yes, I’m kinda back into anime. I dig the goofy sci-fi harem comedy stuff Tenchi does. I also watched the first episode of Cells at Work: Code Black. It was fucking horrifying, single handed lay responsible for sending me back to the gym.
