Tariffs & future projects + Health Update

As many of you are already aware, we are currently facing some of the highest tariffs on imports from China that we've seen in years. So, what does this mean for the projects I have in the works? Unfortunately, almost all of the projects currently in the prototype stage will need to be paused until the tariffs are reduced or until we can find a way to navigate around them. These are challenging times, and it's tough to see a way forward, especially for small businesses like mine.

I had big plans to launch several new toys, including multiple toy lines and inflatables, but for now, those ideas will have to be put on hold. So, what's next? Right now, I'm uncertain about the future of many of these projects. Sadly, the inflatable line won't be moving forward anytime soon. The manufacturer we've been working with is fantastic, but they're based in China, and with the current situation, it's simply not feasible to place a large order or run a Kickstarter campaign at this time.

The plush toys I've been developing, including the anthro big cats and dogs, will also be delayed. Some have suggested manufacturing them here in the U.S., but the reality is that it’s not a viable option due to cost and availability. Over the years, many manufacturing jobs have been moved overseas, and the factories that remain here are often too expensive to produce products at the price points we’ve been aiming for. When consumers are used to paying $50-$120 for plush toys ranging from 10" to 3 feet, it becomes nearly impossible to maintain those prices if we were to produce them domestically. The cost would rise too high, and it simply wouldn’t be sustainable in the long term.

At this point, we’ll need to refocus and explore what can be done in-house. I'll be looking into the possibility of hiring local help or collaborating with people who can assist with various aspects of production using our equipment. It’s a lot to juggle, and while it’s a tough situation, I'm more frustrated than ever.

I hope we can figure something out in the future, but for now, all of our plans will need to be put on hold. Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time.

Quick update on something that’s been affecting me for the past six months. Back in October, I started experiencing ringing in my left ear, along with nausea and balance issues. I went to two doctors: the first one dismissed it, telling me it was just tinnitus and I’d have to live with it. The second doctor, however, noticed damage in my ear and referred me to a specialist.

I saw the specialist yesterday, and unfortunately, he mentioned that I may have a type of brain tumor that could be impacting my hearing and balance. This was incredibly hard to hear, and I’ve been feeling pretty scared since then. I’ve been trying to stay focused on everything else, but I wanted to share this update with you all.

I’m in the process of scheduling an MRI to determine if the tumor is growing and if radiation will be needed. Right now, everything is uncertain until I can get that appointment booked. So, please bear with me during this time. Between everything happening in the world and now dealing with my health, I need to prioritize taking care of myself so I can be around for much longer.

It’s been heartbreaking seeing how the tariffs are hurting artists. Hoping things turn around both business and health wise for you.
