I love modular pieces but I also love a form fitting neck on suits but hard to do at times without getting really creative. I have always loved a very form fitting neck but also find a few necks I have made this way seems to restrict movement when they are attached to the head itself. So I wanted to approach it a bit different, more like I would tackle a toy. This would allow me to make the neck as form fitting as I want (mostly trying to approach a more natural way for a neck/shoulders for partial suits that are more compact). This way I can have a head that is split into 2 pieces, front and back. This would also allow me to create different ear positions or types allowing the front of the face to stay the same and swap the back parts (you could also have different fronts of heads too if wanted). I like the idea of different ears but when the ears are on their own the magnets can be weak (easier to knock off while fursuiting ) so what is the whole back piece was swappable? I could make the magnets a lot stronger since they would be larger and have a bigger surface area. I can also make the head way more form fitting to my own head and neck opening, making it very comfortable to wear. The neck would be a mix of fur, spandex (for the balaclava) and velcro. The velcro would attach to the front of the face helping it not sag down when being worn keeping it in place. Velcro is pretty easy to attach and sew in which is why I like the idea of this section being velcro and not magnets to keep the weight down. The head would be a mix of TPU and hard sections that would hold the magnets out of PLA +. I can embed the magnets into the hard areas that way they won't rip from the base.
So this is a current project I plan to work on. I need to experiment so will post up my findings once I start getting the pieces finished up. Using the sculpt I was working on the other to test this one out :).
