Inflatable Fox has arrived - My thoughts

This is our first inflatable and going into a whole new territory so to speak so learning as we go. With that being said it is crazy to see something you modeled in 3D get turned into a 7 foot long giant fox. I have to say I love being able to inflate the toy and see an idea I had in mind come to life.

So the company I got this from isn't the best per say and has some not so good practices but sadly did not know this when I ordered the sample. So I am currently working with another company to get another prototype done of the fox or a wolf very soon.

 So the original Idea looked like this, we simplified the eyes as the color eyes they were doing were just plain creepy so went with the black and white design you see on the finished toy.

 The head shape was not passed over like I was expecting so that was a big mess up on their part. The ears were put way too far back on the head while the cheeks were also in a weird position. I understand the proportions of things needed to be different based on one is a physical toy and the other is just a render.

 The toy itself has white seams where all the colors connect which bothers me. Specially when the seams split the face colors so much distracting from the overall design. I had a design in mind, a look I want and putting white seams through the middle of the forehead and eyes is not one of them. The hand paws need to be made larger they shrunk them down a bit too much and I rather have large chunky paws, along with the back paws. The size is actually pretty nice, got to sit on it and just hang out on the inflatable and it is really comfy, happy with the overall shape of the body. The one thing I wanted to try that was very different was the way the legs and arms connect to the body. I have always seen the legs stick out a lot on inflatables which is a "look" but not a look I wanted to replicate. So asked for the legs to be blended into the body. Overall I love that and plan to to push that look with the new company.

 I am very excited to bring this toy to Megaplex and get people to see where we are going with this. We like a lot of what was done on this toy but a lot that needs to be altered to be just right. I am a very picky designer with things so I want to be proud of a product we offer so for now it is back to the drawing board until we can get the right shape that works best for us.
