Testing the Apple Vision Pro and sculpting in 3D
Added 2024-03-12 04:15:39 +0000 UTCMy friend is lending me his Apple Vision Pro for the month. So I’m testing everything I can do with this machine and so far I love it. As a stand alone device it’s good but paired with a Mac computer it’s insane.
So why am I excited? I can run Zbrush, beam it into my headset and literally sculpt on a screen the size of my entire room. I can zoom into its eye to see the tiniest detail I can work larger than ever. So I am sculpting by plugging in my small intuos Wacom tablet into my MacBook Air and beaming into the headset. This allows full macOS apps to work without limitations but still run vision OS apps. Meaning I can watch a movie, listen to music, have ref art up, just open windows and work “outside”. Or the Apple equivalent of their environments which are lovely.
You can make the work window as big as you want or small. Put it away or close up. It’s actually insanely cool how well it works. Everything feels smooth and natural.
You can draw as I tested it on sketchbook pro and it wasn’t an issue at all. I kept resizing the window so my art was huge. This is super fun once you connect the tablet to it. Was also trying to open windows to fill my space out if curiosity. You can definitely fill it with too many windows 😂
I am in awe with this machine, personally poorly advertised. This is a niche device for sure, cost prohibiting but in the hands of creatives I can see so much potential. I plan to push the creative limits with this because I plan to do oh so much before I have to return this device to my pal.
