ANIMATION PRACTICE
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been focusing on improving my animation skills. I’ve been using a small test project to practice blocking out animations in Constant mode before switching to spline.
Starting directly in spline is faster and gives quick results, but for me, it often feels like I’m not really in control. It turns into more of a guessing game, where I’m just throwing things together and hoping they work. With Constant mode, everything feels more structured. I can build things up step by step without surprises, just adding keyframes as I go.
The challenge with Constant is that timing can be harder to judge, but I think that’s just due to lack of experience with the workflow. I’ve always wanted to set aside time to learn this properly, but I often put pressure on myself to keep releasing content. Now, I’m trying to allow myself more breathing room so I can actually figure out a process that works for me.
I see some creators do one-day animation challenges and I wonder how they pull it off. It usually takes me about four days just to get something simple finished. But I remind myself that I’m still learning. I’m also working on letting go of the need to make everything perfect. Perfection isn’t realistic.
So for the next few projects, I’ll be using this Constant blocking method. They might not be super polished, but they’re laying the foundation for better work down the line.
FUTAPOP!
What do you think about the FutaPop! magazine renders? Personally, I like them and feel like they have the potential to become something bigger in the future—maybe physical magazines, calendars, or even trading cards.
I’d love to hear your thoughts. This content is something I make for myself, but also for you, and we’re building it together.
CONTEST WINNERS
I’ll be announcing the contest winners either tomorrow or the following day. I haven’t been getting much sleep lately, so I need a little time to recover and also finish the cover art for the placements.
END
A lot of the skills needed to create this kind of content are things people spend years learning in college or university. I'm figuring it all out on my own, so it naturally takes a bit more time—but I'm fully committed to the process.
