ANIMATION
For this animation, I initially aimed for a fast-paced feel, but after setting up the pose, I realized that speed wouldn’t quite fit the scene. If I pushed for more speed, Zarya would end up defying gravity, which didn’t feel right. Instead, I decided to focus on giving the character a sense of weight in her movements.
Originally, when Zarya falls back to her starting position, the motion was slower and floatier. But after getting feedback from my buddy @futaholic, I sped up the fall by a few frames. At first, it seemed too fast and hard to follow. However, by delaying the movement of the thighs by a frame or two, the animation became much clearer and more readable.
This was the moment everything clicked for me, and I finally grasped the animation principles of follow-through and overlapping action. It was a small change, but it made a huge difference in bringing the character to life.
