November Update #2 - Decision & Animation

NEXT MONTH

Next month, instead of launching new models through a vote, I'm considering revisiting some of my older creations like the quarry and the god of war models. They could benefit from a bit of cleanup and efficiency improvements. However, I want to gauge your interest before investing time in these updates. So, what's your preference: should I continue creating new models, or would you prefer I dedicate the month to enhancing my custom rig, refining shaders, and starting the process of updating some of the older models? Let me know your thoughts.

ANIMATION

I've been making progress on the Pharah x Widow animation, but I've been taking it slow to avoid frustration. Without using references, the process is dragging on longer than I'd like, and it's starting to get to me. I'm considering setting a deadline and releasing it, regardless of whether I think it's perfect or not. I'm still in the learning phase and holding onto projects for a long time is not ideal. Right now, all that matters is quantity and getting the hours in.

END

Anyways, that's my thoughts for right now.
I just wanted to gauge the climate.

Remember, drink water, touch grass and get a good night's sleep!

Comments

That's good lol I'm glad you've grown. The last thing I want to see is another artist producing animations with characters with stiff spines. Good job :)

Shad0w_Hawk

Yea, I definitely believed that at one point lol. But know, If I don't have proper reference, it just frustrates the process by 10 and make me not want to work on the animation at all. But, from now on. I'm not doing an animation unless I have proper reference lined up. Not just a pose.

Okay haha. Well at least you know what you SHOULD be doing. I just thought you might be under some sort of misguided notion that "references aren't for true artists". I've heard of that before and it's really a shot in one's own foot, especially when, like you say, you're learning, references are super important to get a believable result.

Shad0w_Hawk

Because I'm dumb lol. Normally I always look at a full animation reference and try to replicate it. But with this one I'm about to release, I just looked at a pose and tried to animate just based off the pose. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it when you're at the beginning stages of animation like me. That's for when you have a thousand hours plus animating and have a full grasp of body mechanics.

Why arent you using references for your animations?

Shad0w_Hawk

I say you should definitely update the older models πŸ₯°πŸ’–

Eros3D

I’m fine with updating old models!

Mark Rogers

won't lie was hoping to vote for Jade's fine ass so we can get some bbc up in here but i def won't mind the older models gettin a tune up

Lazikitsu

I would say update for sure. Especially with how easy it is to use Sindel with 4.0.

Unhindered Fool

Probably a good idea to refine and update before making any new models.

DatDude

I think updating and getting the quarry characters as futa is a good approach next month.
