I’ve been able to get out and play, something I’ve wanted to do again since I was a teenager. It’s another way for me to get out of the house, and my head, after work. As I creep into my mid-forties I’ve become a Hobbies Guy. I don’t want to focus on bad news all of the time or waste every night on the internet. It has been nice.
Things get more exciting in the coming weeks. San Diego Comic Con is just around the corner and I’ll be attending at least three of the days. Vani’s friend was nice enough to get me an exhibitor badge. Without it, I’d probably pass on going this year. I need to figure out a small comic run to try and collect. Something cheap. This has helped me enjoy cons again. It gives me a reason to interact with all of the booths. Mindless flipping turns into a mental blur, and then I never settle on anything to buy. For the previous few conventions it had been Shadow of the Bat-Man. I was doing X-Men Classics for a while. Maybe I’ll go back to Moon Knight stuff. The older, pulpy issues are fun to read.
Soon after SDCC Pat and I will be heading back to Long Island Retro Gaming, my favorite game convention. I’m always excited to be there and I’m planning my food musts as I type. Bagels are always number one, pizza is number two. Actually, rainbow cookies might beat pizza.
Anywho, it’s time for me to make a snack. Have a swell rest of your weekend!
