Chapter 198: The Electromagnetic Cannon That Can Turn
Added 2025-01-07 12:21:22 +0000 UTCKinuhatawas shocked that the clone could block her attack even with its eyes closed.
According to the intelligence, Misaka Mikoto, the Electromaster, supposedly lacked strong close-combat abilities. So how could her clone possess such strength to repel her attack?
"Frenda!"
Retreating from George's high-voltage attack range, Kinuhatashouted. Frenda, acting in perfect sync, immediately pressed the detonation button for the bombs.
"Boom!"
The explosives planted near George detonated with a thunderous roar.
Unfortunately, as the smoke cleared, George stood unscathed.
During the explosion, George had already used iron sand to form a protective shield, securing himself within its confines.
"Alright, playtime’s over. It’s time to end this!"
George opened his eyes and waved his hands. The iron sand transformed into countless needles, which shot toward Kinuhataand Frenda like a torrential storm.
Kinuhatarushed in front of Frenda and enveloped them both in armor made of nitrogen.
The iron needles struck the armor, ricocheting off without causing any damage.
"It’s time to end this!"
As the iron needles fell to the ground, Kinuhatamanipulated the nitrogen back into her hands, grabbed a nearby container, and hurled it toward George with all her might.
Simultaneously, Frenda pulled out a few high-tech homing bombs and threw them. The bombs curved through the air, flying toward George from all directions.
But George smirked.
His ability differed significantly from Misaka's. Using the same tactics against him would be a grave mistake.
The iron needles that had fallen to the ground moments ago now soared back into the air under George's magnetic control, piercing through Kinuhataand Frenda's unguarded limbs.
The container and bombs, caught in his control, froze mid-air before reversing direction, hurtling back toward the duo.
While Misaka could only control metal after launching it, George had complete magnetic control as long as the objects remained within his range, allowing him to manipulate them at will.
Unless one had an impenetrable defensive ability like Accelerator’s, there was no escaping his relentless 360-degree attacks.
"Looks like you’ve got some skills. Let me join the fun!"
Seeing Kinuhatainjured and unable to form her nitrogen armor, Level 5 Meltdowner Mugino Shizuri couldn’t sit idly by. She waved her hand, releasing green electric currents that instantly vaporized the container, bombs, and iron needles into nothingness.
"Let’s play, then."
George summoned more iron needles, letting them float before him. Gathering electricity at his fingertips, he flicked one forward.
Though he was only Level 4 and couldn’t achieve the triple Mach speed of a railgun, a single Mach-speed projectile was still formidable.
With 200 million volts of electricity, the needle shot toward Mugino at supersonic speed.
"A Railgun? Even the original couldn’t harm me, let alone this cheap knockoff."
Mugino extended her hand, and a green electric shield formed before her.
Anything that collided with her electron shield was disintegrated into nothingness. Even a triple Mach railgun theoretically couldn’t breach her defense.
"Don’t be so sure."
George smirked as the railgun projectile curved mid-air, bypassing the shield and heading straight for Mugino.
He had already demonstrated his ability to bend bullets; with his upgraded powers, he could now make railgun projectiles turn as well.
Mugino, caught off guard by this unexpected move, hastily formed another green electric shield to narrowly block the attack.
Before she could catch her breath, George launched another curving railgun shot, accompanied by iron needles attacking her from all directions.
"Enough!"
Mugino, enraged at being pressured by a Level 4 clone, felt utterly humiliated.
With a furious roar, her ability erupted, forming green energy spheres that unleashed electric discharges, obliterating all incoming attacks. She then aimed her assault directly at George.
"Where is he?"
To her surprise, George had vanished.
It took her less than a second to realize he had turned invisible—an ability unique to the clones, distinct from the original Misaka.
"Takitsubo!"
Takitsubo Rikou, a Level 4 tracking esper, activated her ability and immediately pinpointed George’s location.
Mugino wasted no time, firing a green beam in his direction.
"So, a tracking ability."
George canceled his invisibility and dodged the attack, understanding the girl’s power.
"I was hoping for a simpler approach, but it seems brute force is the only way."
Dodging the attack, George unleashed another curving railgun shot, while iron needles swarmed Mugino once more.
"This won’t work on me!"
Mugino’s powers flared again, her green electric currents sweeping away all the attacks.
"Don’t be so sure!"
Seizing the opening after her power burst, George enveloped himself in high-voltage electricity, his eyes glowing white like a thunder god.
In an instant, he disappeared from sight, reappearing behind Mugino.
With a swift, heavy chop, Mugino was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground.
Dispersing the electric currents around him, George let out a sigh of relief.
"Using electricity to enhance speed isn’t as easy as it looks. I’ll need more practice."
George had just experimented with using electricity to stimulate his body, drastically enhancing his speed and strength.
The idea of using electricity to strengthen the body wasn’t new. It was said that Laxus from Fairy Tail grew powerful because he used lightning to augment his physical strength.
However, not everyone could do this. The original Misaka Mikoto, for instance, couldn’t. Her body, being that of an ordinary girl, could only handle minor enhancements, limiting the effectiveness.
In contrast, George’s body, strengthened through the fusion of multiple clones and the resilient bloodline of a wizard, could withstand far greater electrical amplification.
If he weren’t intent on keeping his magic hidden, he could have used his giant magic form combined with electrical stimulation to achieve even more astonishing power.
"At this rate, I’ll end up like those battle mages from Fairy Tail."
Combining giant magic and electrical enhancements for melee combat was far from the elegance expected of a mage.
Thankfully, George wasn’t limited to close combat. He excelled in both close-range physical brawls and long-range magical bombardments, making him a versatile all-around fighter.
