Picking the next topic.

Hallo my dear high tier Patreons :)

It is time again! Thank you for sticking around despite the hard month I had. Please select the topics you want on the vote, and post them in a comment. I will collect your choices at the end of the week, and then all the patreons will do two rounds of voting.

Here are video topics I have basically already researched and could go work on faster than usual:

The Origins and Decline of German Militarism: A video on how the German state was shaped and built by Prussian militarism. How it led Europe into disaster. But also a video on how German civic society was constructed as an opposing force through the free cities of the Rhine valley.

The Origins of Italian corruption: This video will have one singular and simple point: The Mafia ruined Italy. Yes, I will go through and explain the origins of various different broken state structures, in particular in the South of Italy. But the main point I will make is that those broken structures are continued by a system of corruption that was created, and is being kept alive, by the Italian Mafia. And that the Italian Mafia is a tumor on Italian society that must be removed.

How the Congo predicts the Saudi Future: This will be a video based on a paper I wrote as an undergrad history student, comparing the slave economy of the medieval Congo Kingdom, to the Oil economy of the Saudi Kingdom, and making a prediction for Saudi Arabia based on the brutal collapse into Chaos that destroyed the Congo Kingdom.

The Origins and Decline of Japanese Militarism: A video discussing the remarkable events around the creation of the Japanese nation-state during the Boshin restoration. Looking into the militaristic forces that subsumed that state, created Japanese Imperialism, and drove the Japanese state off a cliff. And how that legacy still impacts the Japanese state to this day.

The neglected Danube: Is a video comparing the Rhine and Danube rivers, and tries to answer the question of why the Danube is neglected as a transportation artery in comparison to the Rhine, and how that may change.

Culture Wars: This would be a series of 12-15 videos that are each about 20-30 minutes long in a series in which I try to explain the Origins of the American political structures, and why they are predominantly shaped by the "culture war" rather than by state institutions.

Neutrality Reexamined: With the war in Ukraine in mind, this video would reexamine neutrality in the past and our modern-day and age. What it means for countries. Why it can be beneficial, but why it can also be detrimental.

Russia's place in Europe: A video about the 500-year-long culture war inside Russia, over if it is a European nation, or something else.

Eastern Europe isn't real: A video about why the term "Eastern Europe" is a cold war term, that is outdated, makes no geographic or political sense, and should be abandoned.

Perspectives and Geographic Determinism. This would be a video in which I address what I think of geographic determinism, and why I decided to critique it, despite its popularity.

Eastern Europe isn't real: A video about why the term "Eastern Europe" is a cold war term, that is outdated, makes no geographic or political sense, and should be abandoned. As a Central European I find that this topic to be researched is of National / Regional Importance. :P

I'd like to see the Neglected Danube!

Was a lower tier patron, I just upgraded so that I could vote/input here. The Japanese Militarism idea sounds amazing. Congo/Saudi Arabia and Neglected Danube also sound like great topics.

I'm afraid that this was once again shared with the lower-tier patrons as well by mistake. I'll refrain from voting as a lower-tier patron, just wanted to let you know

Teo Cherici

Why don't you just write all of them in 2-4 pages, so we can read them as appetizers in the meanwhile you do the detailed videos.

All of them are super interesting. Perspectives and Geographic Determinism would be one of the most useful in Hungary I think as the elite I know are totally bought by these thoughts. German Militarism is my personal choice though. I know I am not a high tier patron, but I can at least say it. :)

Eastern Europe isn't real The neglected Danube How the Congo predicts the Saudi future These would be my top 3 picks! :)

Traian Olinescu

The Neglected Danube seems like one that'll only get more relevant with time. I want that one personally How Congo predicts the Saudi future sounds fascinating too

Tom (Gallalad)

“How the Congo predicts the Saudi Future” “Culture Wars”

Since I don't know much about the geography itself of Germany, the neglected Danube would be a great video

Perspectives and Geographic Determinism.
