Can Africa be a one hour project?

I have been dwelving deeper and deeper into the research for the video "Why African States are so dysfunctional" and as I do I am increasingly coming to a realization. This video should not be a short 20-30 minute long video. Don't get me wrong, I can still make this a short video, but the quality will suffer, and much essential information will be cut out. I do not wish to have a repeat of the India-China video where the scope of the topic was too massive and the video quality consequently suffered as a result of having to cut things out.

I therefore, politely wish to request from you that I can make the Africa video a 2-hour long project. I would also like to work in collaboration with a Nigerian youtuber on this video. And thereby do full justice to what is a very important topic.

This would mean holding a new vote for a short video topic in it's stead.

So, can I make the Africa video a long video?

I love all your work, your long form work most of all. But if “Why African states are so dysfunctional” is impractically long production-wise, why not make it a country by country series? I’m guessing it would make each video easier to produce, and would like allow broader and deeper coverage than would otherwise be possible. I’d also love to see some sort of comparison between more functional and more dysfunctional African states. Thanks for all your work, Kraut! :)

Hell Kraut, make it a three hour project. I can wait as I know I'll rewatch it half a dozen times. The monthly payments are there so you can distill as much info as humanly possible.

Now that you’re charging on a monthly basis, please go ahead and make an hour long video! This is what the monthly Patreon fees are for; it’s here to provide you a consistent stream of income that allows you to be more flexible with your projects and gives you more creative freedom.

Yes, please. Your documentary on the "The Mexican American Border" was incredibly helpful to me. We ('Muricans) are never taught anything like this in school or college, unless you take specific classes. As long as you have the motivation/interest in the topic, make your content as long as you feel is necessary. Your vids are a great complement to my Economist & Foreign Affairs subscriptions.

As amazing as that would be, I think the reason why he isn’t doing that again this time is because he can only put out 3-4 videos a year if they are that long. Maybe when he has a full team behind him we’ll get that.

I love your long videos!! I have been rewatching some and they are gold! Well... the shorter ones also, usually love everything you do

If you want to make a 30 minute video, but Africa needs 2 hours, why not make a 4 video series on Africa and release them over the next few months? I think, for this, you can definitely have your cake and eat it too.

Give us 3 video that add up to the 2 hours. It will be less stress on you, less financial burden, and we can interact more with you on the large project

Yeah sure , i mean Im surprised that you tried to compress African history into a short form . It’s such a huge continent with hundreds of ethnic groups it would probably Fit a university course rather than a 5 min video , there’s just so much to cover and im glad you are doing this job

I'm in favor of letting videos be however long they need to be, however, I do remember how much you agonized over the Turkey and Mexico projects because of the amount of time they eventually took to finish. Perhaps, the long-form Africa project could be done in tandem with shorter videos that will be faster to produce. That way, you won't end up yoyoing between feeling like you're either taking too long to produce something or not taking long enough.

How about you make the videos as long as they need to be and switch to monthly payments?

Just make it a 3 part 2h each project. This should be enough time.

When you have time you should do a video about how the middle class came from Germany to the US
