Hey folks: Time is passing fast and April is already here. Already? Yes, we find a million ways to 'kill' time and then we complain how fast time goes by.
DEV NEWS about v0.5: All is going well. Nothing else to report without spoiling anything.
It's been many years now since I started developing visual novels and maybe today is the perfect day I write a little bit about myself.
It might come as a shock to you but Basilicata isn't my real name and English isn't my native language lol.
I've always wanted to draw comics but I was afraid to do it professionally. Instead I studied Medicine and finally I became an orthopaedic surgeon. During my studies I played rugby and after my military service in 2005, my team won the national championship. I got married and my comic/artistic dream was vanishing. I chose the private practice in a small town. Been self employed gave me less money and security but more freedom and more spare time.
I know that in some countries, being a surgeon means being wealthy but not in my case. Here is just a job like many. Also, my rugby experience is useless since few people here know this sport.
Fast forward in 2015, I've got divorced and I wanted a distraction, something to 'kill' time. I went to a comic convention and I met a lot of creators. I found out that only few were still drawing on paper. So, I decided to buy a drawing tablet. I bought a used WACOM tablet (Which I still use) and I started drawing.
At the same time, I discovered adult visual novels and Ren'Py. Needless to say that if my artistic ability was meh, my coding skills were non existent!
Fast forward again to this day, between surgeries twice a week, patient visits and weekly drives of 450 km I found time to slowly realise my teenage dream. I know I'm not 'succesful', I guess my creations are not for everyone but I couldn't be happier.
Thank you too for making all this possible. Your patronage gives me the boost to become faster and better to what I do.
In conclusion: Don't give up on your dreams! Maybe you can't make them true today, but if you're lucky enough, after 20-30 years you will (lol)
PS: Today is the day we b.s. each other, right? Well, I didn't. Trust me, I'm a doctor.
